While World of Warcraft may be the most popular MMO on the market, it's also one of the oldest. Originally launching in 2004, the mystical lands of Azeroth have seen a number of changes through the introduction of many expansions, but none as momentous as the upcoming Mists of Pandaria. Whether you're a veteran raider looking for a reason to return, or perhaps a newcomer toying with the idea of experiencing what WoW has to offer, here's five reasons why you should be excited about the future of Pandaria.
Fuzzy pandas!
We've seen new classes and races come to World of Warcraft before, but nothing on the same scale as the Pandaren. These fuzzy little pandas are more than just new character models, they bring a whole new philosophy to the game. These zen-like monks love nature and strong ales, but they can become ferocious during heated moments of battle. You can expect an entirely new World of Warcraft experience when taking control of these guys for the very first time.
New zones to explore
While each existing area of WoW as it stands today feels a little different, nothing screams out with as much character as Pandaria. Sprawling landscapes, glistening waterfalls and fields of tall grass fill the screen as you explore the fields and caverns of this mystical new land. If anything could make WoW feel new, the lands of Pandaria are it.
New talent tree
With a new race and new classes come new skills, and thankfully Blizzard have managed to condense the current talent tree mechanic down to a digestible format for newcomers. Assigning talent points and building the perfect character has never been more accessible, something that will surely appeal to those picking up the game for the very first time.
Introducing scenarios
Don't have enough hours in the day to settle in for some raiding? Mists of Pandaria introduces the player to Scenarios - short instanced adventures for three level 90 players of any class that can be knocked over quickly. That doesn't mean they lack satisfaction; you'll achieve Valor points along with unlocking some truly sweet loot bags full of rare items. Now that sounds like fun!
Pet battles
That's right folks, now you actually have a use for all those vanity pets you've acquired over the years. Mists of Pandaria will allow you to battle friends and their pets in an effort to unlock new abilities and level up your favourite sidekick. Also you can now catch pets in the wild, which brings a Pokemon like mini-game into WoW which is also a very nice addition!
