Lone Survivor is an unforgiving experience; players need to manage their food intake, conserve ammunition and deal with emotional hardships as they plow through this survival horror game from Jason Byrnes. To help you out, we've combined this step-by-step walkthrough to help you through your first playthrough.
2nd Floor Guide
After the opening cinematic (if you could call it that) you begin in a dream-like area. Keep walking until you see the man with a box on his head. Just before him is a small table with a coffee sitting on it. Hit the X button and drink the coffee.
You will be transported to a dark area before meeting an enemy. Slowly creep behind it until you reach the hiding spot and hit X. Move along the wall and come out of hiding when the enemy passes. Then walk to the end of the screen and hit X on the curtains.
After speaking to a person who drops a flashlight you will wake up.
Apartment 206 - Safehouse
Welcome to Apartment 206 - your safe house for the duration of the game. This is where you will come to sleep (and save the game), eat and seek respite from the horrors that await you outside. Learn to love your home, as you will be visiting here quite often.
To the left you can pick up some green medicine. To the right of your bed you'll find a diary entry that reveals the location of a key, which is on the sofa in the living room. The cupboard on your right gives you a rundown of the controls if you are interested. Head to the far right of the room and exit. Immediately to your left you'll find a battery for your flashlight. Head to the right and into the door on the back wall. Here you'll find the keys to Room 206 on the sofa. Open the refrigerator to obtain six pieces of rotting meat. These will come in handy. You will also find a plush cat and another diary page in this room. You can use the keys on the front door to unlock it. You should get some sleep at this point.
In the hallway you will notice a dusty mirror, look deeply into it. Nothing will happen, but you will need to use this later.
Wing Court 2F South
Welcome to the darkened hallways, where horrors roam and death awaits. Immediately to your left you will find a map attached to the wall. Collect it. We need to head on over to Apartment 203 which is on the other side of the complex. Unfortunately the door to our left is locked, so we'll have to go around the long way. Attached to the map is a letter which will explain that the enemies are attracted to the smell of rotting flesh. Told you those rotten meat pieces would come in handy.
Head to the right and you'll notice a nice hiding space. Further to the right is one of those enemies. Place a piece of rotten meat to the left of the hiding spot, hide and wait for the enemy to walk by you. Exit out of hiding and head to the right and enter Apartment 205. Make sure you turn your flashlight off before you enter the room.
You'll see an enemy straight away. Rather than alarming it, head to the door on your left. You'll enter a bedroom. To the right of the bed you'll find a crumpled note, warning you about Draco (you'll find out later.) Head to the right of the room and enter the bathroom. You'll see a disgusting hole in the wall. Guess what? We've got to go through it!
You'll enter another dream sequence before emerging into another room. Pick up the prawn crackers and the squid stick. Hit X on the dusty mirror to the right and you will be transported back to Room 206. Now is a good time to sleep and eat, before using the mirror in the hall to head back to Apartment 205.
Once in 205, make sure you keep your flashlight off. Head into the main area with the enemy, and exit through the front door.
Wing Court 2F South
As you can see we're on the other side of the hallway now. There is a creeper here, so just hide in the shadows and let him pass you before heading towards the right. You'll find a locked door that is Apartment 204, you'll come back there later. Exit through the furthest door on the right.
West Fire Exit, 2F
There are only two doors available here. The stairway in the middle is broken, so head through the door on the left. Before exiting the room you can pickup another diary page from Draco.
Wing Court 2F, North
You finally made it! Head into the first room on your right, apartment 203.
Head to the furthest door on the right to enter a bedroom. Here you'll find an old doll which you will need for the next area. Exit back into the main room and go to the door furthest on the left. Here you'll find some people partying. Give the doll to the first person you meet, and they will usher you outside onto the fire escape.
Once you receive the handgun go back inside where you'll find that something horrible has happened. Use your new weapon and aim for the head to take care of the creepers instantly. 3 bullets to the head should take care of them.
Exit the room and head into the main entrance. Pick up the beef jerky and head into the door on the right that we didn't explore. Here you'll find a key for your apartment, and another dusty mirror. Now is a good time to go get some sleep.
Go back through the mirror after sleeping to re-enter apartment 203. Exit the bathroom and enter the bedroom on the far right side. Go to the second bedside table on the left and inspect it to find another hole. Go through the hole, but keep your flashlight off as there will be an enemy waiting for you. Take care of it and open the cupboard to find another hole to go through.
In here you will find skin covering another hole. Head to the left to pick up a tin of beans, Look in the oven to stock up on rotten meat. Go back through the hall, and exit Apartment 203 and get back into the hall.
Head as far as you can to the right, and pick up the medicine when you get to the rubble and enter Apartment 203.
Immediately to the right you will find some blue pills. That's all you'll need from here at this juncture. Find a mirror, or go the long way back to your apartment to get some rest.
Once you have woken up and eaten some food, head out of your apartment and into the corridor. Go all the way to the right until you reach Apartment 205. There is an enemy awaiting you in the hallway from earlier, you can chose whether to sneak past or take care of him.
We've been here once before, but there was something we missed. Head to the first room on the right where you will find a message scrawled in blood. Pick up the scissors. Now we need to head back to apartment 203.The quickest way to do this is heading back to your apartment and using the mirror to return to 203.
Once here exit the bathroom and head all the way to the right. Enter the door and go through the first hole, and then head right and go through the second hole. You should see the pulsating skin once again. Stand in front of it and use your scissors to burst through, and go through the hole. Make sure you flashlight is off as an enemy is awaiting you.
You can take the enemy out if you like, and on the far right a battery is awaiting you. You could avoid confrontation all together however, and just exit through the door on your far left. This will take you out onto a balcony, and you will be able to jump through the next window.
On the left you will find a can of soda and some instant coffee powder. Enter the only door you can see to find yourself in a bathroom. You will see a mirror at first, so now could be a good time to go home and save your game. Once you have saved and returned to the bathroom of 201, head to the door on the far right. Inside you will find a strange girl and a scene will unfold. You'll discover a business card with a frequency for your radio; chances are that will come in handy later on.
Exit through the middle door to find yourself in a hallway with two enemies. Creep into the darkness towards your right, and exit the hallway. You'll end up in the east stairwell, and you can unlock the door on your left which opens up the hallway that was locked right near your apartment. This makes travelling so much easier!
Have a snooze and then use the radio to scan that frequency we found earlier. The Director wants to see us, and he's stuck in apartment 204. That door was locked before, wasn't it? Exit into the hallway and go as far to the right as possible. Enter apartment 205, head right and exit back into the hallway. Now go as far as possible to the right again and enter Apartment 204.
Take a look around at all the pretty drawings, then head into the first room on your left. You'll find a gas tank inside, which will be useful when you want to cook food in your apartment. Head back into the lounge and then through the door furthest to your left. Once inside head all the way to the left and you'll meet the Director, who will give you a saucepan to cook food in. Head back out into the hallway and back through Apartment 205.
Once in here you'll need to find the kitchen. There you will find an enemy waiting for you. Kill him, then grab the can opener, rice pudding and fresh ham before returning home.
That's the end of the 2nd floor guide. You've managed to find a good number of the major survival tools, so stay tuned as we bring you the 1st floor guide very soon. Enjoying the game? Head on over to our official disucssion.
