Missing Children Europe has launched a campaign that shows the faces of missing children on 404 pages across the internet.
It's a wonderful, but simple idea. When a page does not load properly and you get a 404 error, besides showing the error and a redirect link, it will show the face and some basic information on missing children across Europe.
"Page Not Found" says the heading. "Neither Was This Child".
Many thousands of children go missing every year across Europe. And 404 pages take up a lot of internet space. This idea is a good way to put use to the "dead" space. "Missing Children Europe" and "Child Focuse" have decided to put this amazing idea to use.
Each page will show the child's name, face, age, date of disappearance and a hotline to call. The pages will be randomized so that no particular child gets more of a chance than any other.
Of course this shouldn't affect Australians, but many children go missing in Australia too. A campaign like this could be launched anywhere else and does not only have to be based in Europe.
Do you think having a campaign like this in Australia would be beneficial?
