Security Flaw Threatened Minecraft Players

by TrblyXlent Featured 1 Comments 16 Votes 646 Views 16/07/2012 Back to Articles
In the past hours, Minecraft has just recovered from a major security threat. Yesterday afternoon, hackers had access to migrated Minecraft accounts. This meant that there were many impersonations taking place.

A hacker has the ability to log on to a migrated Minecraft account and access servers. The hackers also had access to system files, and OS configuration.

This means that the hackers had access to much personal information of players.

Fortunately, at the time of the event, all non-cracked servers could not be played on, as all non-cracked users received error code 503, which means you are unable to log in to that server.

This was a major security threat that occurred due to faulty authentication servers, which were not functioning at the time.

At the moment, Minecraft users are now safe from the hackers, but if the authentication servers are let down again, we will be seeing much more intense consequences, which will be very hard to fix.

Lets enjoy our Minecraft accounts now, while we have them. And as a reminder to all Minecraft users, DO NOT give personal Minecraft information away, and be careful what you publicly say!

The 503 errors were because Mojang took down their authentification servers so no one could log in- as themselves or anyone else.
