Time to wildly speculate about the upcoming Bioshock Infinite DLC

Let the rampant speculation begin!

As many of you no doubt know, I'm an ardent Bioshock Infinite fan. In fact, my article discussing the ending pretty much became a full-time job for days after I wrote it, as you'll see if you peruse the biblically bloated and utterly wonderful theorycrafting session taking place in the comments section. YOU GUYS ARE AWESOME.

Well, a couple of days back, Eurogamer dropped a mention of someone in LinkedIn noticing an odd reference on an artist's profile; a reference that was very swiftly removed.

And here's the line in question: "The artist’s CV noted that he’s been 'providing animation and R&D for a new AI companion character' in Infinite."

As I've said, the line was removed, and there's no way (yet) of verifying the legitimacy of such a claim. But as it stands, the internet is now convinced that the first piece of DLC for the superb Bioshock Infinite, a game with an ending that many want to have babies with, will feature a new companion AI character who isn't Elizabeth. So… no Elizabeth. At least, that's the prevailing fear, and given how much of the game's brilliance rested on her, that would suck.

Here's the thing, though: it's just speculation! We have no idea about anything story related in the new DLC, and frankly, I don't really want to know. I want to install the DLC, start it up, and go in completely cold (something I managed to do with the main campaign by avoiding all trailers). But seeing as how we're all friends here, and seeing as how we've spent hours mulling over even the most banal minutia, then let's do a little speculating of our own.

What do YOU think the DLC will be? Here are my theories regarding this "new AI character' fooferah, all of which are probably wrong, but all of which I get a kick out of.

1. The new AI companion is baby Elizabeth!
Well, not 'baby' Elizabeth, maybe twelve year old Elizabeth. Or, hell, mid-twenties Elizabeth, stripped of her powers. As you know, my theory on the ending stipulates that as of the post-credits sequence, Booker now lives in a Comstock-free, loop-free reality, ready to raise his daughter safely. So this new AI companion could be a power-free Elizabeth: namely, Anna. Maybe they get asked by Elizabeth to jump back into the multiverse for some reason, maybe they run a PI agency together, who knows.

2. The new AI companion is Booker, and you play as Elizabeth.
I love this idea, and there's nothing to indicate it's on the cards, but hell, it'd be awesome. Flip the roles, and have Booker playing wingman, with Elizabeth presumably grabbing him from his safe new reality to help her purge some unrecognisable timeline of some terrible evil.

3. The new AI companion is a smaller, perhaps rideable Songbird -- with the face of a baby pug and a voice provided by Zooey Deschanel. This one's just for me, really.

4. The new AI companion is a Lutece, and you play the opposing Lutece twin.
The twins would be fascinating to play as, and maybe the companion could be both twins, following you and helping you. This is the least likely and the most triply possibility.

5. The new DLC will be set in a really distant echo of the man, girl, city and songbird paradigm.
Booker will be Gordon Freeman, Elizabeth will be Alyx Vance, Dog will be Songbird, and the city will be City 17. This might sound outlandish, but it's still more likely than us ever seeing Half Life 3.

So what do you think? Seeing as how we're sort of floating in a fact-free bubble right now, a bubble that'll be popped the moment any actual news comes to light, you should feel free to go absolutely nuts with your theories. What do you think the new DLC will be about? And what do you think of this 'new AI companion' rumor? And do you think my theories are all stupid, or just most of them? Let the inevitably awesome debate… COMMENCE!

It would be great to see some original rapture Bioshock cross overs.
Yeah, agreed. Rapture could definitely use a re-visit!
it'll have zombies [MOG]
I'm kind of over DLC.

Dishonored was the first game in ages I went back to.
No. 2 would be AWESOME. I'd love to play as Elizabeth.
