What we learnt from the new GTA V screens

Three new Grand Theft Auto V screens equates to more excitement than any grown man should experience from looking at a few pictures on a computer screen, but that doesn't mean we won’t leer and fantasise about what could be.

NO! What will be. Here’s what we saw in the three new GTA V screens released today.

Sweet Ride

GTA V

I love the Grand Theft Auto Trilogy, but going back now, the vehicle choice isn’t as spectacular as I remember; probably because the super-rare cars start popping up everywhere as soon as you get one.

The “Cheeta” in GTA V looks amazing. Presumably, it will be one of the fastest in the game, and not all that easy to acquire. At least, I hope not. It also looks more realistic compared to even GTA IV, like something ripped straight out of Top Gear, and could go a long way to making the Grand Theft Auto universe even more lively.

Imagine even more life-like automotive choices in the already vibrant world of Grand Theft Auto. Staining it with hooker blood and denting it beyond repair by accidentally plunging off the side of a windy mountain road into an unfortunately positioned house might actually make you a little sad.

I Want to Ride My Bicycle

GTA V

The San Andreas-esque bicycle is back! Riding around the ghetto on a push bike during the early hours of San Andreas was ineffably satisfying. There was something about riding around the streets, running away from Samuel L. Jackson, in contrast to the massive world that would soon open up.

This screen also looks surprisingly reminiscent of the amazing Santa Monica pier. Even I can recognise that from having only been there once as a ruddy annoying tourist who was confused by the hot dog ordering conventions, whilst still recovering from a two day hangover.

Top Gun

GTA V

How bitchin’ is this thing? My biggest gripe with Grand Theft Auto IV is that it didn’t offer enough air time. Los Santos isn’t all that much bigger than Liberty City, but it should be big enough to allow some sweet jet action.

The lights in the background are nothing but a blur, suggesting this thing is capable of some serious speed. The game map must be sizable if it’s accommodating one of the world’s fastest modes of transport.

However, more important to online communities is which inappropriately dressed man is flying. It’s not Tom Cruise, or Ray Liotta.

The Obvious Protagonist?

Some impromptu zooming reveals the same middle-aged man that narrated GTA V’s debut trailer. And no, it’s not Tommy Vercetti from GTA: Vice City. The suited chap is believed to be named Albert de Silva (unconfirmed), and played by American TV actor Ned Luke.

He seems to me to be the obvious protagonist of Grand Theft Auto V. Rockstar isn’t hiding it because it was relatively clear without actually being confirmed in the trailer, and why else would they leave him in a screenshot? Unless it’s an elaborate twist...

Hope for Planes

The jet is cool, but more importantly, it offers hope for a selection of planes. Maybe not the 737 that I ambitiously landed all across San Andreas, but at least a decent selection for us fly boys who want to take to the skies and taxi aircraft all around the city. Is it so wrong to just want to drive about (not fly) in a large plane?

More to come...

Perhaps the most intriguing aspect of this reveal is the last sentence on Rockstar’s official press release. Since you probably ignored all text whilst in awe of the three screens, it read ”More to come this week...”

MORE COMING!

...that’s probably not a release date though.

Seems legit. I've seen rumors of Tommy going around. I reckon it's more likely to hear about his lawyer Ken.

They were debunked shortly after they started :)
its tommys twin brother, timmy vercetti
Was hoping for more from the graphics, but that top one looks like PS3 AA so maybe there is still hope.

Pretty excited for this, really enjoyed GTAIV. Really don't know why everyone hated on that for having a crack at the old gritty story angle. It's not like this game wasn't coming to rectify that just like Vice City did :)
I'd like a more wider variety of bikes. Like a few custom "rare" paint designs or vinyls (think Lost&Damned) they had some decent-cool ones.

One thing i don't want is to "Eat to keep your health/muscle" but still have the ability to train in gyms and learn some fight moves (like you could in SA)
Isn't this just a rehash of the news?
I don't feel comfortable playing a mature middle age person as the main character :S If he is confirmed to be the main character that is but it be OK if he was a playable character in multiplayer.
It be great in GTAV mutliplayer if u can use jets, helicopters, tanks and have a game style like Battlefield 3 in the multiplayer.
I wish this game die will be shit game again -_-

Seriously? you have no clue do you? :O
I hope it is more free roam, with more random side missions etc. GTA4 for me seemed a little constrained and linear
Only hope that this Cheeta doesn't 'run out off puff' after going like 'a bat outta hell' for a short distance.
this game will be boring again will be shit -_- ^_^ =_=
