[Comic Talk] General Comic Discussion - Books, Web Comics etc.

71553 Views 760 Posts MMGN.com
From DC to Marvel and Web Comics to The funnies you find in the morning paper, comics can be found in lots of places. I read comics everyday, and have been for many years. This thread is for anyone and everyone who wants to talk about comics.

You read a lot of VG Cats and you want to talk about it? Do so here. You like to buy printed comic Books? Discuss what you're reading! There re so many different comics out there, surely there's much to discuss.

Please note:
This thread is meant for proper discussions. Saying things like "DC suck, Marvel is better!" will absolutely not be tolerated. If you can't be civil and respect what other people are saying, then don't post here. Let's all play nice.

So after watching the avengers, I'm interested in learning the character thanos. I seem to know very little about this character and would like to learn more about him. Some recommendations of series he appeared in would be really appreciable. Thanks in advance. ;)
@newbie1
I don't know much about him, other than that he is the primary antagonist in the Infonity Gauntlet series.

I began reading the new punisher series today. 3 issues in and I'm loving it.
That's good enough for me Snix, I was interested in the Infinity Gauntlet anyways after reading the Infinity Gem in the main avenger story.
I ordered a bunch of stuff today. I'm gonna be so broke.
In light of avengers mid credit scene I would recommend the illuminati series and pretty much all of marvels scuff books cos rumours a while back said that marvel had put the dr strange movie on back burner to focus on its more galactic characters. I want a a gayrduans of the galaxy movie cis that series was great
I was going to buy Planet Hulk today but it was ~$47 at my local comic book shop. I was going to buy it online but after watching the Dark Knight Rises trailer I think I'm going to get some Batman instead.

I have yet to receive my order.... :'(
Pretty sure that same hulk DVD is something like $20 at JB.

Anyone know a good reliable place to order books? I'm after volume 3 and 4 HC of Hickmans run on Fantastic Four. eBay and Amazon have proven no help to me at all.

Thanks, but I was talking about the comic.

In answer to your question. Book depository? That's where I bought most of my Y:Last Man and Scott Pilgrim.

I buy most of my trades off of these guys as they are inexpensive www.kinokuniya.com/... especially if you have a card with them.

Never ordered online with them though.

My bad, not sure why I even thought that.

I found Volume 2 on ebay US. Got it for $26 including shipping, which isn't that bad at all. I cannot find volume 3 at all though.

@Rashy
that link doesn't work :(
Was looking at comics yesterday in the Newsagency... $5.50 for a Phantom and $9.95 for a small arse Star Wars pppffftttt
sure i hope they r really funny [MOG] [MOG] [MOG] [MOG]
@Snix I just clicked it and it works for me.
I usually just get .cbr files for my iPad and use comic zeal to read comics, I can't justify paying $30-$50 for a book here when I can get them so much cheaper when I visit the US.

Reading The Walking Dead again thanks to the game. I read the first 50 or so issues a few years ago, so it's great knowing when I get to the end of those again there is a bunch of new issues waiting for me.
Volumes are usually 10-15 bucks cheaper on book depo. I usually buy bout half my books of depo and the rest at Minotaur.
I downloaded CBRs so I can catch up to the latest issues and buy them monthly.

Also looks like I'll be living above a comic book shop now :D
I tracked it down finally. Minotaur has it for $26.00.

@Rashy
The link worked for me today, however it was out of stock :(
Will any body be getting into the kickstarter for comics the launching or has launched?
Kickstarter?
It's a digital only thing like the video game kicksstarter but instead it will be a mix of established creators and up n coming writer and artists who have stories that the big publishers wont do but are still considered quality so they will be released as pdf with the idea being the kite that people buy them the more opportunities for te creators on a mainstream lvl. Jimmy palmotti is creating one with his artist from Joan hex and all star western. Being a digital service it's cheaper to do and fully creator owned
One of my best friends brother is an artist, he worked on the Hawaiian Dick series - en.wikipedia.org/...

It is hard to track down, but it is awesome and I highly recommend it :)

He made a fair bit of money off it too, mainly because it got optioned by New Line Cinema and was almost made into a film starring Johnny Knoxville.
