Apple Australia is demanding Samsung send it its entire stock of Galaxy Tab 10.1 tablets to be destroyed as part of a legal battle that could soon extend to Samsung's smartphone range.

Oh dear. I really like one of the reader's comments that thank god Apple did not start or enter the laptop market early. Laptops are barely distinguishable from one another and tablets are the same.

You would think Apple invented the tablet which they didn't.

this is just stupid apple will be happy only when all other products are destroyed and humans only use apple computers and iphones and ipads. the public deserve a choice things will always look the same, what are they gonna do sue companies making headphones because they are the same with another brand? an item is an item you cant make it different if its the same. one day theyl get fobbed off and their tirade over everything will end and theyl look like fools.

Apple's still selling better, they wouldn't be pissed about what's better or not, they care because the design, look and UI is a rip off of their own. With that, Samsung is able to use the iPad/iPhone likeness to profit. I really doubt Samsung would've been able to have the Galaxy take off as much as it has without the design influence it's taken from Apple's products.

Think of it as if you made a product, it had a unique look, design and feel. Someone else makes a similar product, comes in a similar package and the product looks similar. With that, you lose the uniqueness of your product, and someone is able to profit off of your design. Would you take them to court for it? Apple's just protecting their products the same way anyone would.

USB, power cords, rectangles, the colour black, glass, touchscreens, boxes, the shape of boxes and the layout of boxes are all things that are not patented or owned by Apple. They have no right to claim ownership over them and therefore have no right to say other companies can't use them.

The galaxy tab doesn't look like the iPad. Both the iPad and Galaxy tab look like black rectangles. Maybe the inventor of black rectangles should sue?

That isn't the point, Marge, the point is that Samsung seem to be copying ideas from Apple to improve their own design. The USB cable that the Samsung device uses proves that, it's exactly the same! Like Azza said very well, Apple are just trying to protect their own device and ideas so others don't profit from them.
