Hello, I'm new!

Hello! I'm new here and to minecraft and trying to get kudos to play on the mincraft server so I thought I'd take the opportunity to ask for a little help.

I just bought minecraft a few days ago (and im hooked already) and I have trouble running minecraft with my render distance anything higher than short, though I usually play with it set to tiny. Kinds sucks.

Getting a new laptop is out of the question unfortunately for the moment, so what I'm wondering is if there is a good low res texture pack that anyone knows of that might help, and would one of these work in multiplayer?

And I don't know WHAT I'm gonna do when skyrim comes out.. no way is that gonna run on this thing :/

Make sure your Java is up to date, have nothing else running in the background while playing Minecraft (web browser etc).

Woah :( Jealous. Yeah I've set my graphics to fast, updated java, the whole shabang. It runs fine, just with the draw distance set to very low. What I was hoping for was a way to increase the draw distance :/ Ah well!
One day I'll get myself a fast pc again!

You won't be sorry! And it's dirt cheap to buy with endless amounts of fun.

Edit: I should add that it's a pretty fun game where you mine blocks of various materials with which you can build all kinds of crazy things, put them together to craft other things, and generally let your creativity run wild!

What specs is your current system sporting? Minecraft is pretty RAM heavy from memory so you might just need to up your RAM.
