Whitelist Info for the Gibson Minecraft Server

If you are a fellow Minecraft player and the MMGN Gibson Minecraft server has brought you here, firstly welcome to MMGN.com and secondly we're assuming that you want to get onto our Minecraft server for some friendly building fun

This server has been running for about a year now and is a big part of our community so there are some precautions we like to take before we expand the current whitelist to accommodate new members. Please read all the following information before asking to be added to the server white list.

What you need to do to be added to the Gibson server white list.
• 1. New members must have a minimum of 200 kudos (your post count).
• 2. New members must not spam the MMGN forums to achieve this kudos count. Anyone caught spamming the forums with short, pointless and non-constructive posts will have their posts deleted and for each post that is deleted you lose 10 kudos. This also goes for spamming the comments section of user profile pages, just because it's not in the public eye doesn't mean we still can't see it.
• 3. New members wanting to be whitelisted must have been a member for at least 2 weeks. So referring to the first 3 rules there's no point in rushing to get the minimum kudos in the first day.
• 4. Fill out the basic information in your user profile such as a legitimate email address and your date of birth. All of this information is not public and is only viewable by MMGN staff and yourself.
• 5. Since you are new here we strongly suggest that you read through the sites Terms of Service information located HERE.

Why these rules are in place
I know that some people may think that these rules are pointless and that we are forcing people to post on this site. Well it is quite the opposite, a handful of posts from a new member does little to the sites growth.
These rules are in place to ensure only sensible, respectful, polite and patient people use this server. This server is hosted and maintained by @Doles who funds this project out of his own pocket with a little help from regular members who donate.
On top of that countless hours have been put into building and creating various projects on the server which to this day has remained ungriefed and we'd like to keep it that way.

Patience is the key here, there's no rush to get onto the server it's not going anywhere in a hurry. If you have the ability to sit there and poor hours into building stuff in Minecraft I'm sure you can use that same attitude towards getting onto the server.

I thought it was specifically to make sure that it was only for people who would remain active in the forums, as I was told that this server was only for those on the forums.

Not necessarily. The server is largely community-focused. So while there's nothing stopping you from ceasing all forum activity as soon as you gain access, it's in your best interest to keep engaged in the community. Otherwise, it'd be no different to playing in a single-player map.

It was just the above two remarks from Marge and GreenThumb and subsequent posts which I have not bothered to find that implied continued usage of the forums was required in order to maintain your position on the servers whitelist.

It's not, we wouldn't enforce something like that upon someone and that's not the point of these prerequisites. Like Silence continued activity through the forums after you have gained access to the server is beneficial to you. Even if your only interest is in Minecraft a lot of related info gets posted here plus all the updated information regarding the server gets posted here first. It is better to become known in this community so anyone that frequents the server knows who you are, there's a few names on the server I can't put a can't match up an account to here, would be nice if I did know them better on here as well.

Oh I am sticking with the forums I don't care about MC any more cause its gonna take to long to get on the server. But ye it was implied to me by multiple admins that I had to stay active on the forums and that they believed I wouldn't.

greenthumb isn't an admin .. he's not even whitelisted :P

He's an mmgn mod person but really he's jsut another member. The limits are there to encourage joining the community but as guyver said its not really enforced.
Is 2-3 weeks necessary? thats close to a month. I think a week is enough :S but thats just me

Yeah. We like to keep them in the dark. In fact they don't even know we are talking about them.

They will just have to learn the hard way when we don't update the server to the latest version because Bukkit hasn't released one to match, well that's one example at least.
