Mobile Phones General Discussion

Surprised that this thread hasn't been created already. What phone, smart phone etc do you use and what are your thoughts on it?
I've been using a Nokia N97 for a while now and I've been very happy with it, especially since I upgraded from an iPhone 3G. I didn't mind the iPhone because it was a good entertainer but I really needed a phone that was a good phone and not just a media device that rings. The N97 is far from perfect but it keeps getting better as the firmware matures.
Apple don't like pr0n? hothardware.com/...
And Apple point the finger at HTC about allowing pr0n on it, when I can go into my iPod and view pr0n on safari or Opera.

Besides, Apple is now the company they said they wouldn't become.

Not really surprising considering how many kids have iPods and what not. Apple are just trying to be family friendly, and who really needs pr0n on the go? Besides Evil Guy, of course.

as there attempt for world domination is occurring with there profits and sales keep rising.

i for one, am getting over the apple craze thing atm
I've currently got a Nokia E63, which is a pretty good phone, but imma upgrade to an iPhone fairly soonish.
... or downgrade rather. The E63 is a pretty good phone in quite a number of aspects as I personally see it offering more "phone" features than the iPhone.

Take the contact search for example. From the main screen just start hitting the letters for the contact and you'll instantly see their name from where you may bring up a list of options.
Hotkeys: the value of these are pretty self explanatory.

I'm not here to start a system war, but when it comes to practicality the E63 stands out as something better.

Fixed
But with the iPhone you just press the button then start typing the name and it will search the contact/anything on it. And if you want a list if fab contacts, mine is set to a double press of the button so I can call people in seconds.

I never really got why people said the iPhone sucks for calling.
wow first post at mmgn..nice!

anyway i have a nokia n900:

awwwwww yeahhhhhh
its like the perfect phone for me. it does everything i could ever want it to, and then some
that looks like my friends phone, i like the keyboard it has and the look of it all.
The iPhone's great as a multimedia device. You can't deny that it's done a lot for the whole smart phone thing and really pushed using your phone as a media device. The result is a lower quality phone than its competitors in the same price group, but I think a lot of the haters just jump on the band wagon. Not being as good as a voice call phone doesn't mean it's bad. If you're making heaps of lengthy calls then there're better options, but otherwise it's fine. It hardly sucks, it's just not top of the range for voice calls as it is in pretty much every other aspect.

just a funny i saw on ocau

and on another note android on iphone

Looks good but very fat. And by good I mean feature/spec wise its pretty boring, verging on unattractive aesthetically.

I don't know about multimedia wise, it does it but thats not what impresses me. The applications are what impresses me, they're absolutely rockin. And all the support just makes it. As I've said before you can apply the Windows over OSX logic to the iPhone over every other phone I used; the support makes the phone.
android based phones have a truckload of support too.
you can install custom Roms (much like custom linux distros) to have a completely different experience to the default OS the phone came with.
that and a market place filled with apps and widgets.
cant wait to give android 2.0 a go.
the n900 isn't that fat, @skarteh.

you can do that with windows mobile as well. windows phone 7 looks epic!
hothardware.com/... Be scared! Research is on the way to see what health issues can arise from using a mobile phone long term.
I sleep with my phone charging right next to me :/

Sometimes its under my pillow for some reason...
Good news for android lovers
www.news.com.au/...
Oh wow thats good news for everyone if its as good as the iPhones OS and just as popular, that makes me happy! If I can get a decent phone next time around on Android I will

Plan sux though, $79 for $300 worth of calls/text and unlimited internet. I do use the emails and internet everyday though.

Recent update for the N97 firmware seems to have sorted the video recoding bug issue, pretty happy about that.
