Surprised that this thread hasn't been created already. What phone, smart phone etc do you use and what are your thoughts on it?
I've been using a Nokia N97 for a while now and I've been very happy with it, especially since I upgraded from an iPhone 3G. I didn't mind the iPhone because it was a good entertainer but I really needed a phone that was a good phone and not just a media device that rings. The N97 is far from perfect but it keeps getting better as the firmware matures.

I have the iPhone 4. It was great for the first two weeks but I've been getting some dropped calls lately. Real pain in the ass. I won't return it though, I still love it. I text more than call but dropped calls can sure give you the shits.

If you guys are after the Desire, i have some good news.

if your with bigpond and also telstra network homephone, you can get a deal of $10 off the $49 cap,

so your getting the Desire and the $400 or so cap for only $39, just ring up and ask your local telstra store *_*

the legend is also a great phone, it has such a nice shape and has only little differences to the desire ^_^

Used the Samsung Galaxy S today. Probably the best phone I have ever seen and used. One you get adjusted to the swipe typing you can write messages on it really quick. It feels much lighter than my Nokia E63, has an enormous screen, is good to hold and is very slim for what it is.

If I could take any new phone right now then it would certainly be that one.

well actually, it would be really hard to chose between the HTC Desire and Samsung Galaxy S.
Both are near identical in specs, just vary slightly in build and "stock" software.

i got a Tele Choice catalogue in the mail the other day and flipped it open. and lo and behold there was the Sony Ericsson Vivaz pro right next to the Vivaz. but its with Optus so.... yeah im not going back to them. hopefully now Optus has it the other companies will follow suit. i was sad for ages because Australia only seemed to have the Vivaz. now there is hope! i just need to wait ^_^

ooh hang on, apparently i can get just the phone from them for $599 its probably gotOptus settings... i'll have to find out. and i'll wait till the price drops.

Anyone know if the Ericsson Xperia X10 is any good? You can get them online with optus on a $29 plan for 2 years.
Looking for a phone and this might be the one.

The Galaxy S looks good, would get it if i could.

ive heard they are good, people that are members of the SE facebook page always say theyre very happy with it and prefer it over the iphone

Why dislike going with Optus? Their plans are more expensive but the coverage is just so much more impressive than Vodafone. I don't live in the most populated of areas, but it isn't a small city either yet the Vodafone coverage barely gets me anything. Like everything else on Vodafone around here it is a real struggle to find a place for 3G reception.

I just got a Samsung Wave on the $19 cap from Virgin that's on special now at telechoice. When I first saw it, it was (and still is) on $49 caps with Optus, Three, etc. and I was thinking why the hell would you buy that phone?
Now that I got one, it is absolutely awesome-it's much like the Galaxy, only with a smaller (but same res) screen and not the 16GB memory. Otherwise it's got the same 1GHz processor, which is also found in the new iPhone 4, and Super AMOLED screen.
The only other thing is that it runs Bada, not Android, but because Samsung designed the Android base for the Galaxy, the Wave's menus and stuff look the same. And Bada has some pretty good apps and games (which surprised me).

you talk like there is only optus and vodafone. there is virgin who actually is owned by optus so they use their towers as well as dodo they are owned by optus too.
then you have AAPT, Orange, Arrow, B Digital, Look Mobile, M8 Telecom, Martin Dawes, Primus, Revolution, SIM plus, Southern cross telco and mobile, unison mobile.

half of them i didnt know existed but there are heaps out there. and they all use the main brands towers so the reception is the same.
