Surprised that this thread hasn't been created already. What phone, smart phone etc do you use and what are your thoughts on it?
I've been using a Nokia N97 for a while now and I've been very happy with it, especially since I upgraded from an iPhone 3G. I didn't mind the iPhone because it was a good entertainer but I really needed a phone that was a good phone and not just a media device that rings. The N97 is far from perfect but it keeps getting better as the firmware matures.

yes but they dont open it up for you. you gotta work out how to root it yourself. if it was jsut for numpties, they could quite easily straight out give us the software to root it. they lock down the phone, the community has to open it up. so yes they are open, but you gotta get the key to open it. and you gotta find that key yourself

Which is almost like a test of competence before allowing you to **** it up :P makes sense to me. If people who didn't know what they were doing could easily mess around with it, they'd eff it up then want a refund or warranty despite screwing themselves. This will be happening anyway, but less so if they made it difficult.

Any locked down features on the phone that you feel should be open are done that way in order to be able to offer you a warranty.
It makes perfect sense.
As soon as you do something like root your phone, they are unable to offer warranty anymore because if something happens its YOUR fault.
Be three same effect as if you took your phone and threw it against the wall.
How are they supposed to cover that?

I've just got the samsung Galaxy S on saturday....pretty good upgrade from the iphone 3gs....

I'm much preferring it than the iOS....only problem im finding is when playing mp3's, it is not even half as loud as it was on the iphone when connected to headphones...

anyone got any idea on what are good apps, or how to make the phone even better? This froyo 2.2 is pretty darn sweet!!!

and also how do i check my photo gallery on this?

I've got a HTC Desire HD

Got it unlocked from the UK about a month ago.
It's way better than my previous phone (Samsung Omnia i900) & it does everything i've ever wanted it to do.

Battery Life is pretty average, but that expected when i use it nearly 24/7 :P

@jordie84 real handy app is Wheres my droid give that a try incase you loose your phone; advanced task killer, helps prolong the batt life, snesoid its a snes immulator; thats just a few

to check your gallery, im assuming pics you've taken go; into the app section of your phone and select "galary" [Facepalm]

dude, the cpu automatically reduces clock speeds when they aren't necessary.
only uses 1ghz+ when shit gets intensive.

god i love these phones... i have convinced about 5 ppl to get a galaxy S and they love it......... apps are awesome aswell and as for the ps1 games i got psx imulator runs pretty good on most games

my last phone was nokia N97... god that had to be the worst phone ever...... from now on ill never go back to nokia...

I still have my N97 it's far from perfect especially in the OS department but I'm still happy with. The main thing I really like about it is the overall size and I just found a pretty cool theme for it called rCarbon Orange
Sure at some point I'm going to get myself an Android phone but for now the N97 is still doing what I want it to do.

Lol ye 9.1 i havent as yet, guyver atleast its done you some good i couldn't handle the amount of time its frozen, restarted, and crashed on me , dunno maybe mine was the bad apple of the bunch; also apps for it were pointless not for me
