Hit someone with a tennis ball at school, get sued

"A 13-YEAR-OLD schoolgirl is being sued by a classmate over a tennis court mishap at one of Queensland's top private schools in the latest blow to playground fun.

The claim alleges Julia had hit classmate Finley Enright-Burns in the eye with a tennis ball during a tennis lesson at the Mudgeeraba school last October."

Are you kidding me? This type of thing really worries me about the future of society. If kids are playing tennis, there's always a chance you're going to get smacked in the face with a ball. It's all part of the experience.

I fear for my children's generation where fun will be outlawed because everything leads to you being sued :*O
My phys Ed teacher once threw a tennis ball right at my head once. Hit it with a racquet and got me right in the face. I was on top of the umpires tower at the tennis court and he thought his way of getting me down was to hit me. That's something to sue for.
Should my friend sue another friend for kicking a rugby ball at a tremendous speed and breaking his arm going to catch it?

Or a hand stand near some demountables and carving his leg open on the metal sheets on the side

Or playing a game of hockey and having a stick swung back to break her nose?

Look all this shit is ACCIDENTAL. Shit happens. We all can't be untouchable!! I HATE SOCIETY!!!

Play is not injured? And if so don't play, call directly water polo [heartbreak]
I don't quite understand the above post...

I've read it about 15 times and still lost
Glad to know I'm not alone on this one.
In primary school the big kids took my ball away from me and threw it at me, the ball hit me in the back of the head and then I went face first into a poll smashing my front tooth out. I was told I could sue the kids responsible but even then I knew it was a dog act to sue over something like that. My parents were dirt poor and could have done with the payout as well. So for a well off family to even consider taking legal action that is whole new level of low disgusting behaviour, hang your head in shame you stupid parents [Rage]

Water polo is usually my first port of call, followed by Doors Plus (No fuss).
My worry is now seeing all kids at schools having to wear protective eyewear for any sport

That's actually different though since it's just the kids version of assault. I'd understand if someone sued for that. Especially since there are expensive medical bills with dental problems.

This isn't some kid trying to bully someone. It's just a game of tennis, where some unco kid got smacked in the face by a probably equally unco kid. No intent there.
I knocked my friends tooth out once, I gave him a pay out. Of 3 shiny Pokemon cards. They were doubles [MOG]

Imagine playing Golf with that lol.
This is why kids are so soft now, part of being a kid is mucking around and getting hurt. I would hate to be at school now and not be allowed to do anything.
