Bigpond sim card question

hi guys, thought id ask this question here as not sure where to put it
i have a laptop and an ipad (new one ) any way im with bigpond and it came with the sim card thingy to run the 3g for the ipad.
now i also have a prepaid 3g next g usb modem,
for what ever reason can i use the sim card from the ipad in the usb modem? im on a plan for the ipad 3g. would that work?

would be nice if telstra/bigpond let you tether from the new ipad but im told i cant.. just another idea..

You should be able to use the mobile hotspot feature on the ipad to use with your laptop. But yes, you can use the ipad sim card in your 3g modem. Although you will have to adjust settings in the Telstra software on your laptop. Namely put in your Telsra username and pass word
I would personally go with the hotspot option :)

IPad uses a micro Sim doesn't it? Those modems use a normal Sim?
you can use a micro Sim in a normal Sim slot it's just a case of getting to sit in the right spot and not move.

thanks guys, unfortunatly telstra say they dont support wifi hotspoting for the new ipad..
