Hi Guys,

Just wondering if anyone else is overclocking Intel E8400 (stock 3.0ghz). I'm kind of an overclock noob and recently overclocked mine to 3.6ghz. Just wondering what voltage everyone is giving theirs and if everyone thinks its safe to be overclocking as I am with stock fan.

At the moment I'm giving it about 1.35volts (I think, need to check) and it hits about 55 degrees while running prime95 stress tests (fan 100%)

It isn't used in any computers that people actually use. It is used to cool down CPU's during competition overclocking. And breaking records. Other than that, it is not used, AFAIK.

Yeah it's just select FSB number, restart and you're over clocked. I cranked all the fans up as well using the Asus AI.

D: i knew the q6600 ran hot but id get better cooling to make sure it doesnt run past 60

cham .

on load a safe temp should be 40-60 depending on the ambient tempreture .

i'm guessing you're running on stock ?

if you aren't ,

make sure you have an exhaust and an intake fan .

if the aftermarket cooler was put on by you , resit it with a tad more thermal paste .

CORE TEMP is the best .

i should over clock my cpu... i got the one with low multipliers so i could overclock it to 3ghz. need better cooling tho

its a P4 2.4ghz HT 478.... i think its a northwood... im not sure i'll have a look.

This is still a learning curve for me so I dropped my clock speed down to 2.65 and I'm going to stress test it for a while and see if it's ok in the environment it's in.

Using Prime95 to do the stress testing my CPU temp is at 33c and all my cores are ranging from 40c to 51c.

you need more cooling..... liquid nitrogen

i read a article in my pcpp magazine about a msi overclockers event. they got some ridiculous scores in 3dmark using liquid nitrogen and whatnot.

Everything at 100 percent load. The day has really cooled down here in Melbourne and I've got the window open and all fans cranked right.

my comp dosent overheat much anymore..... mainly cause i turned up my fan and took the side of the case off

its actually quieter without the panel....

Hey guys, is it normal for my CPU core voltage to drop from 1.310 to 1.296 whilst at 100%? (overclocked from 3 to 3.6). Passes all Prime95 tests running for an hour

Most OC guide recommend you run the P95 test for a few hours some say let it burn right through the night. Not sure about your voltages dude I'm still new to this as well.
