I know we have a general discussion about graphics cards but I though a separate one about Dedicated PhysX cards maybe useful.
Adding a dedicated PhysX card is probably something I wouldn't go out of my way to do but since I have a spare 9600gt sitting on my desk doing nothing I decided to install it.

I'm still messing around with this thing trying to see if there's any noticeable performance gains. Just downloaded PhysX drivers from Nvidia then and I'll run 3D mark at some point.

Also just saw this card from nvidia www.evga.com/ which is a combination card that uses a GTX 275 for graphics and a GTS250 dedicated for PhysX.

GT240 I believe is the same again. Can't believe NVIDIA rebadged the same card THREE times! It is a sweet card though, been around since just after I bought my old rig and it was a beast then and still powerful now.

8800, 9800, GTS250 are still good cards to use for general gaming we are just being greedy and using them for Physx :p

Yeah the new PCCG has a full article on it :D followed by an article ripping on the 480 on the next page. It basically convinced me single handedly not to get a 480 XD

Is anyone here rocking an ATI + NV for Physx set up. I read the whole thread. My bad if I may have missed it.

I want a 5870 for my computer but am sold on the cheap graphical touches that Physx supplies :'@

EDIT: Scratch that. The amount of games that have Physx that I actually want to play add up to 3. Batman, Mirrors Edge, Mafia 2. I'll save that money. [Derp]

I'm trying to get this working right now and about ready to tear my GTS250 out and drop kick it out the ****ing window!

I think it might need to change slots, but I'm not taking my god damned sound card out to find out. I'll wait until I get my gf's single slotter and see if that works. Boards making me CRY!

EDIT: I don't think this has anything to do with the actual PhysX attempts, my computer will override the ATi drivers if the NVIDIA card has ANY drivers present. Which means I go to windows basic colour scheme and can't even watch videos.

I think I need to use the 3rd PCI-E slot but I'll need the single slot card for that, I'm not removing my soundcard even temporarily for that piece of shit GTS250.

If you spent all night with it ****ing up you'd be pretty pissed off too. I even just got a blue screen a minute ago, so its out of my computer and not going back in.

Also read the edit above, its not the PhysX, its not working at all as soon as even the basic windows drivers get put on to recognize the card.

Its possible the bottom PCI-E lane is the 2nd slot on my M/B. It does some other crazy crack smoking stuff like the RAM slots so who knows.

But at least I know my problem is really at a very basic level, I could get the PhysX option to come up after doing all that 2nd virtual monitor bullshit so I don't think its the mod. FluidMark never saw it as a Hardware PhysX card but thats probably more to do with my 5870 being nearly disabled at the time =_=

Did you enable physx in the nvidia control panel?
