I know we have a general discussion about graphics cards but I though a separate one about Dedicated PhysX cards maybe useful.
Adding a dedicated PhysX card is probably something I wouldn't go out of my way to do but since I have a spare 9600gt sitting on my desk doing nothing I decided to install it.

I'm still messing around with this thing trying to see if there's any noticeable performance gains. Just downloaded PhysX drivers from Nvidia then and I'll run 3D mark at some point.

Also just saw this card from nvidia www.evga.com/ which is a combination card that uses a GTX 275 for graphics and a GTS250 dedicated for PhysX.

@Skart your best option for a Physx card if the fan noise bothers you would have been the same card I got. I remember when I had the 9600gt as a Physx card that thing used to go spastic until it got into windows, this might be a bigger problem when running an ATI card as your main GPU because the drivers don't work perfectly together. Or it could be the lower end cards just have cheaper fans...just guessing here since I've never had that combo before.

Again I don't think my case could really handle that. I am a bit careful with heat because I know my case has its limits :P and I was after a single slot!

I am thinking about chucking my 8500GT in to my rig, because it's just sitting around at the moment. I've got a GTS250 in there. Am I going to see huge physX improvement?

It should help reduce the load carried by your GTS250 in Physx games. I'm surprised you didn't already jam that spare card in there to see what happens.

HAH! turns out the newest version of the 275.15(beta) drivers on the nvidia site are the "fixed" version, even after they said they would leave the "bugged" ones up.

Using those settings ^ I wanna see how much more powerful an 8800 is to wtfever a GT240 is.

I have the 8800 in a lan rig... altho it isnt working atm so i might chuck it back in until i get a hdd for it.

E~ righto... i had to go and get V1.1.1 just for you scott...

Your Max was higher, My minimum was higher, your avg was higher. but we can give the extra to the 5870 i reckon...

Also im running the 257.15 drivers (non "fixed") what are you running?

Probably the i7 actually. I think your PhysX card is quite a lot faster. Neither the 5850 or 5870 would be even touched by that test, probably lucky if they were using 15% of their power rendering. The Physics is what slows it down.
