I only got a dedicated graphics card recently

Most motherboards have onboard video, but you need it if you don't have a GPU.

Erm, no they dont. It depends greatly upon the chipset/manufacturer.
If your mobo has a video out of some sort on io at the back then it has onboard, if not, then you need a video card

and then when i get my graphics card i just need to put it in and then install the drivers i guess or do i need to do something with the bios

Unless your mobo supports hybrid sli/crossfire then the onboard will kick in when there's no load on the PCIe GPU.

Alright ladies.I still have no idea on anything..so im looking for a graphics card to play Battlefield Bad Company 2.

Go for a 5770 if you can, its about $180. If not then yeah, the 9800GT but don't go lower than that.
