i was just curious about what mouse you all use and what mouse surface you use if you have one ;] and settings also if youre techinical, your settings as well

Well I just checked MSY Auburn's site (closest one for me), they don't have current stock for the x8 or the old Sidewinder, but they stock the X5. PCCG has almost the same base price for the X8 and X5, although I hear the shipping is variable. I'd still prefer not to bum a ride to Auburn with my parents (it would mean an early-ish wakeup, and I have to help with a bunch of other things), whereas I could just laze off and just get it from PCCG.

I've never used a gaming mouse as such, but I'm pretty sure the current mouse I have (looks like the older version of www.microsoft.com/... is only 800 dpi. I'm not sure how big a jump it would be to 2000 or even 4000 dpi. I know both the sidewinders have the option of having different dpi's, so I can just adjust when I need to game, however with limited space on the slide-out table for my mouse, the higher dpi's may surely make a difference.

You'll notice the jump to 2000 :) but you do just alter your sensitivity to the new DPI. As in if you had a 1000 dpi mouse and bought a 2000 dpi mouse, you just halve your sensitivity so it feels the same but its scanning double the pixels as before and allows twice the variation/smoothness. So its not so much a jump if you calculate the new sensitivity you will use. Windows makes it a pain because its non numeric but most games are numeric so you can just use a calculator.

Hmmm I wonder if you could use Intellipoint on a Mac? If so when you decided to start gaming I'd suggest the X5 since it's cheap and very functional.

I only have 160GB so I don't think I want to game on my Mac, plus I don't really enjoy computer gaming except Sims and Worms. :|

When I get more space(looing at options), I may start gaming. PLUS, my internet is slow. >.<

PLUSPLUS..what's Intellipoint?

PLUSPLUSPLUS, the mouse would have to be aluminium so it matches my Mac. :3

It's a laptop not a handbag it doesn't have to match dude :P Intellipoint are the drivers needed to use Microsoft mice, well to use their additional functions at least.

i bought myself a medion erazer from aldi the other day. seems to be a rebadged cyben snipah silencer. has less lights and you cant program the buttons to do other stuff -_-

It's a laptop not a handbag it doesn't have to match dude Intellipoint are the drivers needed to use Microsoft mice, well to use their additional functions at least.

Some wireless Intellipoint mice also need the drivers to allow windows to turn on the screen saver and other power saving features. The cheap wireless intellipoint I have for my laptop can be pretty ineffective on the battery without that driver.

30 bucks, its pretty good but sucks compared to my x8(which i bought today :P) and yes its usb. look for reviews on the cyber snipah silencer or the ozone smog. same mouse as mine

Zowie's coming out with the EC1/2. Its a IME3.0 merged with the Deathadder. In other words, would have perfect 4/5 buttons, great micro switch, good sensor and good wheel. And the IME3.0 shape. :D
