OK! Finally talked to a manly man at Bunnings who actually knew stuff about the paint I was buying (and left me in no doubt that I don't with plenty of

WTF expressions!). I settled on some "self priming" paint he said would go on top of some slightly roughed up paint already on it without needing a primer.

So heres a really ****ty photo from my phone camera which is starting to show evidence of being thrown at walls in its picture quality:

Because the photo is so **** I'll just tell you what you're looking at, the case is a sort of sparkly silver paint on the side doors and top etc, where you can see the seam of the front panel is where plastic starts, it has a silver painted plastic front panel and those blue bits and the 5.25"/FDD covers you can see are see through acrylic with blue grid/silver behind them. I'm not sure what to do with these or if they are removable but we shall see when I finish busting this sucker open.

Anyway my plans for it are, Matte black interior (maybe primer in there because I'm using some **** paint I found in garage, and then the outside is going to be gloss blood red (hopefully nice and candy red, if not its copping a coat of lacquer too).

So hows that sound? Any advice appreciated because I'm literally noob at this stuff....

Woah all you need to do is paint the main case black or sumting. leave the blue stuff and the silver bits.

You could even light up the blue stuff on the front with some LED's, would look awesome.

this has Easy writen all over it.

Uh a PC I got built ages ago before I knew how to build em. Spec'd it out and got him to put it together, didn't specify a case and thats what I got..

It looks ok but its really cheap if you can see it better. Its like those NZXT cases, looks good but ****ty materials. I'll get some better photos...

Woot another project

With paint matt finish is more forgiving when it comes to surface preparation, gloss pains look much better when you take the time and get all the dents and scratches out of the paint. Any ripples and bubbles in the old paint will show through.
Just take your time and do it piece by piece it's not like it's going anywhere.

Ok heres some photos from an actual camera (albeit a broken old one).

This is the guts, here you can see its MIGHTY 1.0ghz Celeron processor with some dust to improve the heatsink, 512mb of SDRAM, Radeon 9250 Graphics Card (bought that in hope I could idle GW on it while I was on my PC) and a SoundBlaster 5.1 ...which I should put in its successor now that I think about it...

Closeup of the acrylic panels, as you can see its a clear bevelled piece with some blue or silver **** behind it. Silence give me your Zip drive!

Ripe for destruction! It actually isn't too bad to work on to be honest, fairly roomy and has a front panel and all that jazz. Just crappy plastic front part makes it seem cheap. Those front plates are stuck on by a plastic nail thats fastened down with glue :/ I'm not sure if I can remove them without making it look fugly by putting a screw on them...

Except just a fan because I'm not willing to spend much on this thing...

lol, looks good, just remember, patience is the most essential thing, like dry times, always wait longer. do the coats in thin coats rather than thick, and take your time, there is no hurry

Thats where I will dick up, I'm impatient as hell. But I plan to do two thin coats, perhaps even three...

Whats that PC modding site you go to Pongo I'm checking up on some parts, they send to Aus right?

EDIT: Nevermind I just knifed the glue off one of the bay things seeing I have a spare somewhere, turns out the glue breaks off cleanly and allows me to remove the clear face and then paint them red, replace the clear bit and then use a glue gun to replicate their dodgy half assed job

Also butchered the Pioneer 16x DVD drive on it for the hell of it. Might as well paint the faceplate while I'm at it.

Hmm... The only thing I can really add is that (and it's probably not that important) is that you said you're going to paint the interior. Just make sure that all grounding has contact with the case.

Found out I can't jemmy off the blue bits so I decided I might paint them black too, did a bit of a half assed mockup in photoshop to see what that would look like...thoughts?

pffft ive been zapped multiple times and nothing serious has happened except for an increase in my electromagnetic field, i can stuff up tv and radio signals now
