The Monitor Thread

I though every other part gets a topic, why not the face of the computer, the Monitor.

To start it off I saw the Acer X243HQ 23.6" on MSY for 278($229 After $49 Acer cashback)

Can anyone tell me if its any good?
I am a bit of a novice when it comes to monitors i have to be honest but i see no settings on the U2410 that allow you to better the blacks. The sRGB setting is probably the best but apart from contrast and brightness adjustment evrything else related is locked out. Plus in this setting the input lag is increased i believe.

I read online that an ICC file should be used to get the performance i require but these are of no use when playing the 360 on it.
Don't cheap out on your monitor. I sold my u2311 to replace it with 3 $110 LG's (triple screens are excellent for sim racing), and have regretted it ever since. Should have saved up and bought 2 more dell's.

The image quality is [sick] and there is dark patches all over the place =_=

Ive come to the conclusion that IPS monitors just suck for gaming. Dull colours, poor response time and not the greatest blacks.
My ASUS turned up yesterday and is going back due to severe Backlight bleeding.
Not sure what to get now to be honest...
I want a monitor thats great for gaming. Low response times, vivid colours and good blacks... does such a monitor exist?
people have had good experiences with BenQ. There's some on special at the moment on PCCG.

E: nevermind i read your post on the last page :P

i mounted my screen to the wall with an arm thing the other day. Looks pretty good and is heaps better then before in functionality and desk space. Unfortunately though I can't find any decent sized screwdrivers round the house, so part of the stand is still attached to the screen xD. Looks silly but Its not really a priority atm.
www.techspot.com/... some new 3D screens from BenQ, given the way BenQ price their screens I'm assuming that they will be priced competitively.
Hey guys.
I'm looking for a monitor ~24" and >$200. It is going to be used for my PC (a little gaming) and my Xbox 360 so it needs to have HDMI.

I found this: www.pccasegear.com/...

I don't own it or anything, I only found it just then. :P
I have a Samsung series 50 LED and its amazing. Super easy on the eye.

Just thought I would put it out there... :D
Any other recommendations? It has to be from pc case gear or umart. I'm not putting down the one you found Bailey. I just want to see the range of monitors that I could get that are good for my needs. :P
go to pccg, select monitors between 21.5" and 24" then sort by price.
Anything under $200 will suit your needs.
Note, IPS panels are better than TN

Dudes, need a new monitor at work. Any suggestions?

Needs to be relatively cheap and around 20-23".
It's for work and you are paying for it?
Just get the cheapest LED screen you can find, it's not going to matter for work.
Just for work. I'm not paying for it :P

Ok purchase made.

Now I can haz real monitor at MMGN HQ [Derp]
Does anyone here game on a 30" monitor? Does 1080x1920 appear grainy?

I'm going to be getting a bigger monitor soon, but I'm tossing up whether to go for a 27" IPS 16:9 monitor or a 30" 16:9.
Well I had the u2711 which is 2560x1440 and running 1080 on it looked quite grainy.
Unless it's an xbox or ps3 don't run it on less than native.
2560 would become my native for my PC.

I still can't wait for something like this:

It's stupid that we have to spread out across multiple screens if double-wide is possible.
Those are pretty awesome. Damned expensive if you actually look into it though.
It's all about the money really.
You could buy 3 1080p screens for 10% of what those bent double wide screens go for.

Edit. I just looked them up, not even 1080p, just really wide.
Expensive and the resolution isn't that good as well. Wasn't too bad for its time though.
I have no idea of the specs on that thing, what intrigues me is the lack of borders, which you now have to deal with when running multi-monitor setups. amirightguyver?
BenQ why you not put buttons on the front of the bezel instead of the side?
One if the bezel was the same all round I could rotate my screens and get a better aspect ration and 2 I could switch between different inputs without swinging my screen around.
I was thinking of getting this tomorrow.

m.dicksmith.com.au/...

I'll pretty much be using this to plug my laptop into to see my work on a larger screen and also use my PS3 to play games with.

Is this a good quality monitor? :O
Specs wise, I think that it is alright for a PS3 or viewing your work on a larger screen.

Although, for the same price you could probably get something slightly better.

www.ebay.com.au/...

^ That is an extra 50c, both LED, have the same resolution, screen size & ratio, display colours, viewing angle and response time.

However, the Asus also has a DVI-D port and built-in speakers. The Samsung monitor comes with a VGA cable, but the Asus one comes with a VGA cable, DVI-D cable and an AUX cable.

The differences aren't huge, but it's always nice to have DVI-D (well, for me, anyway. :P )
No one really ever uses the built in speakers do they? They are always horrible and now they are even more worse in LED screens because they are so thin.
