So with the Steam Big Picture mode announced, I thought it would be awesome to do a quick build competition today.

Use any source you can for parts (probably PCCase Gear) and provide us with a build for your own Steam Box under $1000.

RULES:

Needs to support HDMI
Needs to be under $1000
Need to provide a list of games it can run (high profile so we get the gist of what it can handle)
You need to have fun!

The top three builds will appear in our article with full credit, and all of those who participate will receive a special MMGN achievement for their troubles!

BADA BING!! $495 QUAD CORE GAMING MACHINE

Graphics card has a passmark score of 2057 ( www.videocardbenchmark.net/... ) which is more than enough to handle all of today's games on high-medium high. My 5770 still runs just about everything on full high at 1920x1200 so the 7770 still has quite a few years left in it. The graphics card has HDMI as specified as well as Display Port and dual DVI ports.

Build 1: 7850 system.
Advantages:
- Will support dual cards with ease (PSU provisions for two)
- Will look better due to the colour theming and the case being awesome
- DirectCU card is very quiet and cool
Disadvantages:
- Less powerful card
- AMD

Build 2: 660 Ti system:
Advantages:
- NVIDIA, awesome card
- Case comes up well enough and gives you a lot of fans for the money
Disadvantages:
- Couldn't get an SLI board in budget to provide for 2-way
- The TJ08-E looks better

EDIT:
Also here is a spend a little more, get a lot more option.
Advantages:
- SLI board, PSU and case support this
- 660 Ti - EVGA model to keep it all looking awesome
- Overclockable CPU
- Very good cooler
- Awesome case
Disadvantages:
- It costs more

I would get that one for sure. Also the TJ08-E has an optional accessory to mount a slot loading optical drive which keeps the brushed aluminium theme. This would be ideal if you wanted to put this on it's side and use it like a HTPC box.

Now you've got me thinking of all the sockets I've known intel to have 478, 775, 1156, 1366, 1155, 2011. I know there are more, but thats just it since I've been into PCs.
