Its a sign that it's been kept under wraps, that is all.
Lucky I can't afford it right now or i'd probably go out and do a compulsive purchase. This game has been hyped up so much and no one even really knows what it plays like!
JB don't have their awesome pre order deal anymore (the one with the headphones) so I will prob get it off the net for $60

yes scary... usually theres reviews a few days before.. but i guess if it was really bad the previews would be crap to?? or at least the demos that have been shown on youtube look good.. man I'm just counting the days.. X_X

Is that because the game is not very good ?
Why else would they not want people talking about it, telling everyone how amazing this game is that comes out in a few days
If early reviews come out with bad scores it really hurts a games sales
I pre ordered with the headphones so i am getting it anyway

Yeah it's a bit annoying from the customer point of view. I don't like to pre-order any games until I at least see one review, otherwise it's too much of a gamble (unless of course it's a game from a well known franchise, which in that case it is arguably likely that the game will be good anyway)

Embargo's are in place for pretty much every game. Very rarely is a game allowed to be reviewed before the release date. Maybe 1-2 days before. Depends on the publisher, but 90% of the time the embargo is for the launch date.

Deus Ex was the same. Rockstar always has strict embargo's. No reviews for this prior to release is not out of the norm.

Although, there is always at least 1-2 publications that have exclusive review access (via "means"), and any lack of these sorts of reviews generally alludes to issues, or the publisher not wanting any reviews before launch.

If there isn't a Dead Island review from the likes of IGN/Gamespot in the next few days, it probably isn't a good sign.

That said, I like it. That's all I'm saying.

It doesn't show much confidence in their own product -_- What are they afraid of? They want people to buy it on release, then reviews come out, like DNF [MOG] Review scores are important so we don't buy games like Naughty Bear. duh...
