brb suing Melbourne High School for not getting into Law.
I didn't want to do Law but that's not the point.

Anyone else think this is a huge joke?
[Facepalm]

They're seriously suing for that. :S

Yep.. Pretty stupid. People will sue cause of anything these days. I should sue my old school for all the bullying I had that impacted my school work but that's not my personality :P
Brb, sueing my primary school because I got a C on fingerpainting that time in 1st grade.

They didn't provide enough academic support for your finger-painting prowess. I feel your pain.
school and uni is shit. Tafe taught me more then both and i am only getting good marks cause i learnt all of it at tafe and i am in my final year LOL. Just want that degree.
Wow, these stupid claims are getting worse and worse. There aren't enough numbers to count the Jackie Chan WTFs flying around my head right now.
Comment on the article:

"Oh dear... time to fire up the Waaaahhhmbulance."

That pretty much sums it up.
I wish journos would stop reporting on this kind of stuff, unless there's actually some sort of chance of the litigants winning.

This, this, this!

Tired of people getting worked up over essentially nothing.

So can I sue Kenni for breaking MMGN's kudos level system?
I didn't get into law either [Rage]

Of course, I didn't apply to get in, but I don't see how that's relevant. The universe should just offer me everything.

Why? He doesn't attack either party. If they sided or attacked a party, then it shouldn't be reported.

A court case shouldn't not be reported just because there's a high chance someone won't win.

Someone always wins in a court case, and someone will win this one...

EDIT: BTW, I know you meant that in this case, the girl won't win (hopefully) but that doesn't mean it shouldn't get reported just because it's likely she won't.
I disagree. At the very least, it will be an out-of-court settlement, which is far from anything news-worthy.

There's a ridiculous backlog of court cases waiting to be heard, a vast majority of which don't get a mention in any newspaper. So why does this one? Because it's mildly entertaining and a bit off the wall.

We can all laugh at her reasonings, or question the current state of the our legal system, but at the end of the day, aside from it being a little interesting, I see no valid reason as to why it should have been reported.
Journalists aren't stupid guys, they publish odd or silly things because of this ^. Everyone thinks it's stupid, we all crab on to each other about how stupid it is. They drum up an argument out of nothing, and retain interest in their paper.

There's no real question of whether it's 'newsworthy', because that's not what news and particularly newspapers/tabloids, are for (anymore).
Tabloid, I would understand. This is in The Age. Disappointed.

I agree whole-heartedly. A slow news day should result in no news, not filler crap like this which basically fuels dumb people to do more dumb stuff.

:P All the same now unfortunately.

Having read the article now, it starts off strong. But oh man, when the Geelong Grammar rep starts talking her case goes down the shitter. Typical case of a brat wanting everything to fall in her lap.

School should counter-sue because she didn't perform to the ability that her 'intelligence tests' indicated (school with Grammar on the end need like 90 averages don't they? lol).

Geelong Grammar is good. Not 90 ATAR average of the year good, but good enough to get into Law if you're as gifted as you believe.
I'll give her one thing: Her knee-jerk reaction to sue whoever crosses here is showing she has that cold-hearted response needed to be a lawyer one day.

I agree.

BTW, I was saying that just because someone won't win/lose, doesn't mean it shouldn't get reported.

Yeah, I realised that after I posted.

It's not about the fact that it's a one-sided case per se, but the fact that the case has no merit. Miswording on my part I guess.

It's pointless reporting on cases that are this dumb. Not only that, but it tends to give the justice system a bad image to people who don't understand it much.

Yeah, I agree (and I'm one of those who doesn't understand it much). I guessed that was your concern.

Anyone hear about that woman who was on a work trip got injured during making love in a hotel was trying to sue her workplace?
God I'm surprised I haven't been sued yet for stuffing up the social threads repeatedly.
