This is cricket, 33 is mid-career

Normally that would be the case but he's given up one dayers already & they'll probably replace him before he gets to the age Warnie did when he retired.

Haha can't believe I put Warne and Swann in the same sentence we all know there's no comparison between the two :P

Swanns got 2-3 years of decent cricket left in him tops IMO.

Decent is all he ever has been, Warnie was a bloody master!!

5 for!
Michael Clarke ruins the momentum by dropping a sitter.

last 3 years of swans have been better then the last 5 warne bowled.

New Zealand did pretty well in the end.
Unfortunate run out there
Clarke is looking good so far
And what a shot by ponting there

How dare you compare a Pom to Warnie.

That comment was an absolute disgrace, get out of this country. Here's why:

Warne 2002-2007

Matches 48 Inns 94 Overs 2283.4 Mdns 453

Runs 6681 Wkts 284
Ave 23.52 Econ 2.92 SR 48.2

Best innings 7/94, Best match 12/246
5 wicket innings 17, 10 wicket innings 5

Swann 2008-2011

Matches 36 Inns 66 Overs 1483.5 Mdns 294

Runs 4410 Wkts 153
Ave 28.82 Econ 2.97 SR 58.1

Best innings 6/65, best match 10/217
5 wicket innings 11, 10 wicket innings 1

So, as you can see, Warne has better average, strike rate, economy, wickets taken (57 per year vs. Swann's 51 p/year), best innings, best match, more 5 wicket innings' and more 10 wicket innings'. Oh wait, that's everything.

And remember, this is when Warne was aged 33-38... Swann is 33 soon, lets see how he does in the next five years. My bet is he will be dropped within a year or two, to make way for the next mediocre Pommy spin-queen.

Ps. Swann has an average of 40.13 against Australia. That's a bowling average too, not batting, even though it looks like a batting average.
Warne could come back and still be one of the better spinners in the world, once in a generation player.

To put it shortly no!
When Swan takes 600+ test wickets then he may be compared to Warne, when he wins a match off his hand alone then he may be compared to Warne... Warne himself said Swan isn't as good as he think he is

How good was Pattinsons near perfect triple wicket maiden over lol.

I was just properly waking up & was hell surprised to see us get 2 top order wickets let alone the key wicket of Ross Taylor all in the same over.

There I was thinking it'd be great for Pattinson to get a 5fer on debut it's almost a certainty now.

He reminds me abit of a brunette Brett Lee hopefully he can develop a good yorker & he'll have most of Lee's tricks up his sleeve to work with.

Just saying that Pattinson got his 5fer!! 5/28

Set 19 to win.

Tight finish methinks
Geez Hughes looks like he's probably dropped himself for the next test if Watson is fit to return, he just didn't need to play that shot after being dropped the ball before.
forgot the cricket was on :P
Hughes is gone, it's not necessarily the lack of runs but he goes out the same way every time and to get dropped playing that shot and than use it the very next ball and get caught looked really bad.

Cummins and Pattinson could be a brilliant duo.
team unchanged for the next test. good decision in my eyes. will be great to see warner opening without the pressure of only two overs to face.

hughes is hit and miss but who would they replace him with? he is only filling in until watson comes back.
Marsh has to come back aswell and can open, Khawaja could also open so no real need to keep Hughes around.
I'd keep backing Hughes. People forget he scored 80-odd only a test ago.

Sure his dismissals are concerning, but it should be a fairly straightforward thing to correct. And I've noticed improvements in the way he's been playing recently, just that he keeps finding a way to knick the good ones.
If it was straightforward they would have corrected it by now as he has had the deficiency for a long time.

Maybe it's a coaching issue?
cant be any worse than ricky pontings issues. he has always gotten out chasing a ball outside off through to the slips or keeper. sometimes he plays a defense then the ball moves so he chases it. it just looks like he wants to get out

Ponting is on paper Australia's 2nd greatest batsmen ever behind the late Donald Bradman, Hughes is just a spud on paper and on field, Khwalja and Marsh to open!!
If Khawaja opens for Hughes it means Christian will debut, can't see that happening so Hughes will get one more at least.
At the halfway mark in a 50-50 over match India are already 186 with only one wicket down against the West Indies, they could get over 400 if this continues.

Edit: Now 250 in the 33rd over with only one down.
Sehwag's done it off his own bat? 173 off 128 sheebez.
