I lived with a guy who was a few years younger than me, never lived out of home and his parents paid for everything.

While I was out I'd come home and notice things in my room moved around. Turns out his mum was coming while we were out and cleaning the place, and I had to put a stop to that.

He'd have his friends over all the time, and I'm okay with that. His mates sucked but I would just go play a game or watch a movie in my room which was no big deal. What I had a major problem with was that he would invite his friends over, they would arrive and he would be in the middle of WoW raid, so they would come and just talk to me and stuff when I was in the living room. It's not like they would stay there for a few minutes, sometimes it was an hour or more.

Bit hard to talk that long to people you don't know, especially people you don't like.

In the end I had to get out of there, his personality was just clashing with mine. I had grown out of the 18 year old party phase, he hadn't.

Just about everyone I've ever asked to live with me recently. -_-

One chick didn't know how to clean up after herself and she also had 2 young kids. Half the time I'd have to wake up and feed her kids because they were stuck in their crib, staving and crying, while she slept in. That was just ridiculous. I reported her to DOCs too, not like anything would ever come of it.

A bunch of other random friends too, all the same. Just messy and never took responsibility for anything.

We don't have any inkling to invite anyone else to live with us again.

I'v been living out of my parents house since I was about 17 though, so I can imagine that I was probably that bad room mate at some point to someone else too. All my bad experiences were probably just karmic payback. :P

E ~ Sounds a lot like some of my previous pads, Heller. Hang-abouts everywhere. X_X

I'm not a neat freak, but there's certainly a difference between keeping things tidy and liveable and being an absolute pig.

I like cleanliness but leaving a dish or two out overnight isn't a problem.

Seems to be for my current room mate however, god it's getting ready to explode.

I lived with my best friend for a while. He didn't know how to do dishes, he was clearly sick of me yelling at him to help out that he decided to just keep all his dishes in his room. When we moved out, I had a snoop to see if he had any of my dishes and I found bowls, plates and pizza boxes full of mold laying all around his bedroom. It was the most disgusting thing I've ever seen.

No surprise he was sick quite a lot when I lived with him. Idiot.

Never have and probably never will share a place with a random or even a friend. I need my space, who knows depending on who you live with it could be fun but over time no matter how cool that person or people are they will eventually get on your nerves so I prefer to avoid that.

Does living with your hubby count? Lol.. Seriously though I do miss living with mum sometimes cause she was easy to live with.. My hubby isn't too bad but he's a clean freak, always on the go where's I like to "take breaks" in between housework.. Mum is like that too always on the go like an energizer bunny.. :S :P

LOL! Funny coincidence for me, I have a fairly awful roommate at the moment, last night I was sick as a dog and desperate for panadol, and *she* (yep, not *he*) was out so I had a look in her room for some pills and found the exact same thing you mentioned. Bowls, containers etc full of mould, cutlery under her pillow (LOL [WTF]), about 20 empty softdrink bottles, and barely a visible spot of carpet in her room.

Other than that, she constantly slams doors, leaves the front/back door unlocked when she goes out, leaves piles of clothes on the bathroom floor, spills liquid soap all over the bathroom (me and my other housemates are still trying to work out wtf she does with the soap), and never washes up her dishes. She's 17.... surprise surprise lol

and that's the worst part of house sharing, if something goes very wrong someone has to move and that's the last thing you want to do once you've settled in.
