Hello all. I have noticed a few people asking various questions about EB and JB over the years. I'm sure you all have a question or two that you'd probably like answered, so maybe I can shed a little light?

I used to work for EB games and I am currently Employed at JB (as a games consultant). I am happy to answer your questions (if I am allowed to, that is), so if you'd like to know something, now is the time to ask.

How do trade-ins work at JB?
I am not sure if it's the same in all stores now, but my local store has a trade in counter where the games are. What is the process of trading in?

How much do you think I would get at EB or JB for a PSVita console(WiFi). I brought it from EB on launch day but I doubt I'll be able to get a full return on it

You take then to the games counter. Failing that, go I the regular counter and surely someone will be able to help you. Each game has a credit value. The older the game (and if we have lots of copies in the company already) the less value you get.

Can't help you with that. I work at JB currently, and we don't take traded in consoles/ handhelds. You can call the store nearest you and ask, but I'm willing to bet a private sale will get you more money.

How's JB's exclusions list these days?

It used to be fantastic, then a year or two ago they did a huge update and the trade in three games deal did a massive 180 from being in the (savvy) consumers favour to JBs.

Have they continued to update it regularly or was that update more of a one off?

I know this one.. $80. That's why I sold it on ebay and got $300 back for it.

Are the trade deals coming back or have we seen the last of it?

Can't you put down any deposit? Even if it's like $10.

I'm not sure if there is a minimum, But when i pre-ordered Blops from there, I just put a $10 deposit down.

@winga Like I said, the last time a deal was present was when COD came out. Since then we haven't heard anything about any type of deals. When we do get told, it all happens very quIckly. We get told about it and BAM it happens a day or two later, so it could happen. Ya never know.

Also in RE to preorders, a $10 deposit is usually all it'll take. Sometimes you may be asked to put a little more down if what you're ordering is expensive.

Hey Snix, can you tell me how the policy is in regards to midnight launches at EB?

The one I called demands that you have a pre order in order to get a copy but I've had some mates say they just walk in after everyone gets their pre order and the guy sells them a copy no problem.

Pre-Order customers would obviously get first preference for the games, but I've never heard of anyone being refused a sale just because they didnt pre-order. He probably told you that because he wants you to place a pre-order so his KPI's increase.

Trade two get it free deal at JB. Only selected games that can be traded for it though.
