Since heaps of people here are at school/uni and love to complain about studying, it deserves its own thread.

Homework stinks! [Rage]

Right now I'm about to start an assignment that I've since learnt was due yesterday [Facepalm] Although, this will be my first late one and is in my last semester, so it was bound to happen eventually.

1 greybox test document
1 GreyBox / Design Doc
1 Script / Dialog of 2 characters
1 Game Prototype...

The whole HSC period is a useless joke. Its stupid I need to do 10 units of crap to then be allowed a chance at getting a degree that qualifies me to put computers together profesionally ... when a 5 minute youtube video will tell me all I need

HSC isn't so much about learning a specific topic, also about just having the discipline and commitment to finish something out as best you can. That's the point of school. That's part of the reason why we go. To get us ready for a competitive adult world. Some don't need it, some get more benefit out of a more hands-on environment, but it'll make life considerably easier for you down the track if you've actually completed high school for something like IT work. You restrict how far you can go in that field with it. You'll eventually hit a brick wall imo.

I know the actual certificate is important to getting into uni and having the best career paths but its stupid that it is so important. For example somebody who is a talented artist/designer and wants to do a graphics design course. To get in they will have to do hundreds of collective hours of school subjects, most of which will be utterly irrelevant to them in life.

I see the value in it for getting kids use to pressure. I'm mainly annoyed because my ability to write long essays will dictate if i can do a computer engineering/IT course(obviously very different to essay writing)

This "competitveness" is also what is wrong with our capitalist society which, funnily enough, is also slowly falling apart before our very eyes. Government bailout's are like throwing fuel on a fire.

Go to the USA to see how unbelievably poorly most of that country lives.

Hey guys, I'm in need of a little help.

I have a journalism feature article due on Monday, which I, of course, have not started. Now since I have another essay due on Friday that is about media violence, I thought why the hell not do a piece on media violence, or more specifically, violence in video games.

Where do you come in? I need a couple/few interviews, they're supposed to be done in person, but it can work without. So, if anyone is interested in answering a few brief questions (I'd just be searching for an opinion positive or negative, no real knowledge is required) post here or PM me, and I will try and get the questions together over the next couple of days. I might start a thread also, we could do it in thread, answer the questions you can/want to.
