Also multiplayer for me is running silky smooth with no lag, and i got up to rank 16 in one afternoon

Did you do anything or did it just randomly start working?

It seems like your problem was genuine graphical quality lag, then. Others, like me, are having CPU-related lag and changing graphical settings doesn't help or hinder.
Although, do you realise you could turn AA off and turn shadows back on, and it might be the same? I don't use AA at high resolutions because it's kind of redundant.
