I am hoping there's enough new ideas in this game to stop it from becoming just a shiny looking FPS game.

So this has been in development for a long time, and imo is shaping up to be bloody awesome. The story is pretty awesome - Earth was under threat from an incoming asteroid so scientists buried notable people underground in Arks, who would later return to the surface to rebuild. Basically you play as a survivor of a malfunctioning Ark who returns to the surface alone and you wander the wastelands.

People seem to instantly compare it to Borderlands, however this was in development long before Borderlands was conceived.

I'm interested to see how hard they have pushed the RPG elements along with car combat. I'm hoping this is going to be more action orientated than a slow paced Fallout style game. Anyone else out there excited for this one?

Oh i am *puts hand up* just hope it will be as enjoyable as Borderlands. Can't stand slow paced RPG's, look promising but will have to wait to see how it turns out.

From all the gameplay trailers we've seen I think we can expect fast paced action most of the time.

As you said @Sevenll Cormack has been keeping this alive for years, which shows he has considerable faith in the product. Not to mention it is the first game to debut the id Tech 5 engine.

id Software are the godfathers of PC gaming; some of the most influential titles in the history of gaming come from these guys. While I don't think RAGE will be revolutionary it looks like one hell of a ride!

There is no denying that there is a resemblance between Fallout 3 and RAGE, but it looks to be more action packed. I didn't really like wandering the vast open spaces shooting bugs and having to use my PIP Boy every few seconds to avoid dying. RAGE looks more like an action game, so it will suit me more.

That's an interesting question MicDaMan - while it has been in development a lot longer than Borderlands of Fallout 3 the harsh reality is we've already played those games. RAGE probably won't be as revolutionary as it seemed when they first started working on it.

However being id Software I have faith in at least a solid, enjoyable experience coming from it.

You didn't like Borderlands? I freaking loved that game, and I'm not too big on RPG's. Have to say I agree with you on the Wasteland feel, it seemed more like a Mad Max type feel to me.

Being a fan of Fallout I am hoping for something similar...but as Heller mentioned above it looks to be more action packed, which, fingers crossed, it is.
I have to admit that Fallout at times did get a bit repetitive for me, pick this up eat this, medi pack, medi pack, medi pack.
I just don't want to get my hopes up only to finish it and say....like a lot of shooters I have played lately. "it was ok but I would rather COD"

It's had all this time in development I just want something HUGE!!
Crap now I'm getting all excited and hyped up aarrrggghhhh!! [Shifty]

So I just met the creative director and co-founder of id Software today Tim Willits. Really cool guy, so down to earth and just excited about their games.

Also had the chance to play the game for an hour and must say its much better than the build we had at E3. Runs like a dream on the 360 and also had a chat about the differences on the PC version. Not going to lie I was mildly excited, but after playing it I just want more!

Wow that's so dodgy, they're meant to put a sticker just below the disc mount. Does your case say 'Flexbox' on the bottom left, on the inside? If not they may have given you a different case, or if it does they must have removed the activation key so they could put the case on display and have forgot to stick it on the manual or something.

Make sure you check the entire manual, just in case one of the staff put it in there, and check the artwork sleeve.

Can you get refunds on sale items?

I don't think it was EB's fault this time, I called them up and told them the story and the guy told me to come in. When back into the store and he remembered me, when we check the game I bought to another one they had in stock it seems that someone had forgotten to add the registration key stick to the front of the manual.
I'm installing it right now and it's taking it's sweet arse time [MOG] kinda glad I got the retail copy of this game because it's massive, would have taken a while to download it.
Also looks like I got the Wasteland and Sewer missions DLC, not sure if that's worth anything separate.

Edit:
After installing the game I just wanted to check how it ran, couple hours later I'm still playing. Got to love a game that grabs you right from the start.
I'm also over the moon about how well this works in surround mode, no need for mods the aspect ration and menus are prefect when run across multiple screens. The overall visuals of the game is fantastic, I couldn't stop taking screen shots.

nup :P theres only like two sewers you can go in and i dont think you actually get anything out of them
