So i'm having an argument with a mate.

The Sims 3 has been played by many and loved by lots. I have a mate who's trying to argue that the sims 3's core demographic is dominated by males. Which is making me really angry for some dumb reason. So where else could i grab a poll from awesome people while discussing something than the awesome place that is MMGN!

So am I right? Is The Sims cored demographic predominantly female?

Ummmmm mnot really.. When it first came out I Was on the EA forums quite a bit and I thought it was a 50 /50 kinda thing :P

Buuuuuut like I said on Facebook.. It's fun but killing them is harder IMO.. Not as fun as sims 2. But the graphics etc is better. I'm just pissed off they haven't given us a seasons expansion or like open for business.. The expansions have all been crap.. Damn u EA :'(

I think it might be even, but girls are more public with their playing of that game. Most girls tend not to talk about playing games for stupid teenybopper self image issues(being seen as nerds and such/being harassed online). :P

Same reason that gender distribution in a game like farmville is even-ish but you don't see many guys broadcast that they play(same self-image poopoo ness).

Personally i think the Sims is based towards females but males aswell. Like a 60/40% thing.

Good thing about the Sims games is that anyone can get into them, like mentioned above I think it would be a fairly even split between the demographic of genders.
I swear most of the Sims comics I see have a girl playing the game though.

Yeah I think I've met way more women who "admit" that they played the Sims although I suspect there are also men who play it. I do think it's mostly women but men can play it too.

Yeah I would have to say I've seen both genders play it but mostly its the chicks that seem to stick around.

Richie played for a while and so did my friend Jun but indeed they both made these awful player type guys that hooked up with everyone, mostly the maids and yeah... was pretty disgraceful!
Their parties would never end well either. Some chick would crack onto them while another chick they had "Woo hoo'd" was around and then there would be a fight. Meanwhile Richie is sitting back in the chair all "Oh Ladies please"

Umm it's not real douchebag- lol virtual women fighting over your Sim guy does not count as badass :D

Jun pretty much followed suit with that- moved in two chicks, tried to make them hook up- used the nude patch...

I played Sims 1,2 and 3 heavily. I also play/ed Diablo 1,2 and 3 heavily.

I don't really think playing Sims is anywhere near feminine. It's a brilliant Life Simulator and is good for when you want to escape reality (into another reality i guess). To me it's like daydreaming with effort.

Like daydreams though, sooner or later you have to wake up (turn off the game) and go back to reality.

i play the sims. i love it and i'm a male. i do believe that it is 50/50. the reason i like it is because of killing your sims and building mansions and i loved playing all the original simcity, sim ant, sim tower etc. games.

the sims is not gay. *remembers last time playing was almost a year ago*
