Using multi player games on more than one pc

G'day, I never know where to put my questions up some times

any way,

I have games like star trek online, and starwars the old republic

i have my pc which i play on most of the time but now thinking of playing on my laptop in the lounge room , when i save a game etc does that go onto the pc I'm playing or stored online some where?

like when i log into star trek online it takes me to where i was last at ie a certain mission, not sure about starwars as waiting for the patch etc..

any help would be great thanks

Most of the time it would be saved onto your PC HDD. Only games that have a cloud based server would store your saves online.

Steam has cloud but i have no idea if it stores your save online since i've never tested it out.

depends on the game.

several games use the steam cloud sync service to tie your steam account with your save data.. hence, logging in from anywhere will allow you to pick up where you left off.

for games like star trek online, i'd assume it is also stored on their servers, so that no matter where you login from, you're at the same point in a mission. but i haven't played star trek online, so that's merely an assumption.

MMO's are all stored on the provided servers, doesn't matter where you go you will have the same characters and completion as long as you use the same account.

Most others don't.
Not until fairly recently did programs like steam started using cloud storage.
