World of Warcraft

It was inevitable

Anyway, here we post all our WoW talk. Exchange class tips, mods, find Fraggies on your server etc etc.

I'll start off...been playing WoW for about 3 years on and off. It seems everytime I "quit" i keep coming back simply because...well, I can't run much else on my computer that's worth playing. Most "game experiences" fall on my 360. I have a 70 Human Warrior on Jubei'Thos and a new Death Knight on Dreadmaul.
To be honest, I really like the Death Knight not just because its the flavour of the month. Its a genuinely interesting class but I can understand where all the prejudice is coming from...it is still severely overpowered in PvP...but I can't for the life of me understand why no one wants them in raids or heroics. They're the IDEAL DPS class...but people still seem to reject us. Ah well...they'll get over it soon I guess.

So what servers do you guys play on? What classes, play-style (PvE or PvP?) do you prefer and feel free to share some in-game stories.
Indeed, he's the worst of us

And I don't think it ever will, I wonder when billzard will release a new Warcraft game.
Anyway, back on topic:

For those who actually do play the game, what gameplay do you prefer? PvE or PvP? I used to be a huge PvP fan til I got bored and tried PvE...which I got frustrated because of people constantly bailing in groups so went back to PvP. Right now I'm trying to aim for PvE as a DPS class. So far so good but I might end up back to PvP.

PVP. I absolutely love the added element of danger you get from having jerks running around. Plus it's fun. Can't really stand PVE anymore.
I played wow from 5pm till 7am when i was on the trial
Been there, done that

We should cheat, and have me create a new account so we can get 90 days of triple exp when levelling together.

Edit:

Also, what does everyone think of my kickass avatar? This is about the 8th version of it. I'm perfecting it further
Theres a Triple Rested XP Now????????????????????????

and ur Avvie is cute
Not quite. Copy paste!

What is "Recruit-A-Friend"?
Our new friend referral system allows you to recruit some of your friends to join you in World of Warcraft by sending them an invitation e-mail containing a trial activation key. With this key, your friends will be able to set up their own trial accounts. If your friends decide to convert their trials to full accounts and then pay for a month of game time, you will receive extra game time free – 30 days for each friend that converts!

So, I get game time if my friends convert their accounts?
Yes, if your friends decide that they wish to continue playing beyond their initial trial period, they can convert their trial accounts into full accounts online. After they have finished the process, your friends receive their first 30 days of game time and their account is unlocked, allowing them to enjoy everything that World of Warcraft has to offer.
Once your friend enters his or her first billing period, you will be credited 30 days of free World of Warcraft game time.

End copy paste.

There's also triple experience when adventuring together, plus you get a zhevra mount.

The triple exp is for 90 days.

So basically,

30 free days more of WoW when they subscribe.
triple exp when adventuring together for 90 days
Zhevra mount

Not a bad incentive for inviting friends, don't you think?
I play a pally as a main. Draenei pally, lv 71. I'm prot and I AoE grind to level. I need some better gear though, as I only have just over 10k health and 6k mana.

Haha same.
I well prefer PvE over PvP. If you say you prefer PvP because you can't get groups for PvE runs, I'd suggest looking for a guild.

No one likes a PUG, and the only way you're gonna see consistent and efficient raids is with a guild. At the moment, we clear naxx in about 4 hours one night, then maly/voa/sarth the night after. It's free/easy loot once you get into a group of decent people who know how to do it.

Having said that, because the content is so easy at the moment, we are seeing more and more raid pugs every day.. but for consistency, I'd suggest making yourself available and looking for a raiding guild.

Heroic pugs attempts ftl.
I love PvP for the fact I can do it whenever I feel like it and make progress, even a horrible arena team will eventually earn epics and of course honour isn't hard to earn.

I like PvE but don't find running the same instances over and over fun...
Yeah, I agree, grinding can get boring.. but your eventual PvE aim is to clear all the content.. and get yourself geared up. It's fun when you work hard, as a team towards something, and finally overcome it.

Does get boring though when you finish it all, and have nothing new to do. That's when PvP comes in handy.
Can someone explain the fascination behind WoW for me? I'm not hating, I'm genuinely curious. I played Warcraft back in the day and it was fun, but I seemed to have missed the boat when it comes to WoW. Why is it so addictive? Is a high level addiction expensive? I've logged over 30 days game time on COD4 so I can kinda understand,, is it the whole levelling thing?
I have 3 words for you all:

WoW is overrated.

An acronym doesn't count. It's more like 5 words.
Its not the leveling that some people find so addictive. Most of the addictive elements lie once you hit the top level. That's when you can participate in 25 main dungeon raids or 40 man/small team-based Player vs Player combat.

Blizzard have structured the game almost like a pokie machine. When you almost feel your lucky break coming, you get stripped of it...but the break was so close that you're convinced you'll get your gold the next time around. Except instead of gold you're running for top end gear.

I got into it because of the heavy emphasis on team-based play. You team up with 25 (or more pre-Burning Crusade expansion) people work together as a team to conquer difficult obstacles that can span out to over 2 months of playing just for a single raid.

But the game definitely needs to be enjoyed with close friends. You can't really play alone otherwise it does get very, very boring.

That's what kept me hooked, only instead of chasing high end gear it was more getting to 70 (in BC) that kept me going.
My compulsion to get that little bit further and unlock new abilities, mounts etc etc...

I know if PvE wasn't so time intensive I'd be highly addicted again, I'm very thankful I don't have the time to spare anymore
