Has anyone tried out the beta version yet, if so what are your thoughts and experiences with M$ latest?

Here's the download link www.microsoft.com/

Some video tutorials for those who want to dual boot it next to your other OS.

and here's a program that allows you to open a whole OS in a window and your desktop and use it.
www.microsoft.com/

And last of, here's a video showing you how to install and use Windows 7 on Virtual PC.

Thanks to Kamon62 from MyWii for the info, he doesn't know I borrowed it yet

Does anyone have compaitable driver/program issues with 64bit version of 7 - with vista I had a few. made it a bit of a deterent to want to use.
And does anyone know how to fix the "you've got 4gb and win 7 see's only 3gb issue" without having to resort to a 64bit version.
Like with vista to fix the issue all you had to do was install service pack 1. rrraagghh there's no service pack for win 7 yet.
the 32bit version might "show" you as having 4gb, but it still only uses 3.2 - ONLY, i can't stress this enough, the ONLY way to actually use all 4gb is to get the 64bit OS.

Driver compatibility has gone up a huuuuge amount since the RC came out for W7.

Basically, if you are tossing up between getting the 32 and 64 bit versions, get the 64. There is absolutely NO reason to not get it over the 32. Absolutely NONE of the same issues are there as there was with XP 64.

I am assuming that your cpu can handle a 64bit OS.

Yeah I've been using 64bit and haven't had any problems at all
Thanks Doyl, Heller
Vista 64bit wasn't that much fun, 64 xp was great especialy when you switched from 32 to 64 the speed of the OS was a huge improvement but there was those compatibility issues.
I'll give it a go, any prob's I'll let you know.
Well I can tell you now, posting from a windows 7 x64 computer, that you shouldn't have any compatibility problems unless you have really ancient hardware.

make sure you are running it as admin, and maybe try compatibility modes.

dude,

memory could not be written

google it.
you will get your answer.
will be a 2 second fix.

dont bother with installing a diff OS
Is there a way that I can install Windows 7 and keep everything on my computer? Or do I have to do a clean install?

I ask this because I have no way of backing everything up.
windows 7 needs a clean install.

Damn it... I might have to buy an external drive...

there is a way of upgrading it i think do a google but a clean install is always better then the update

DoYL said: windows 7 needs a clean install.

The RC had an update option, so I would only assume that the full 7 should as well. The update only works within platform types however. So if you're on Vista 32bit then you can only update if it is as 32bit version of 7. Same applies to 64.
