Has anyone tried out the beta version yet, if so what are your thoughts and experiences with M$ latest?

Here's the download link www.microsoft.com/

Some video tutorials for those who want to dual boot it next to your other OS.

and here's a program that allows you to open a whole OS in a window and your desktop and use it.
www.microsoft.com/

And last of, here's a video showing you how to install and use Windows 7 on Virtual PC.

Thanks to Kamon62 from MyWii for the info, he doesn't know I borrowed it yet

I read somewhere that it says end of June 2010.
March 1st will begin the bi-hourly shutdowns so yeah its useless by march.

What's bi-hourly shutdowns? Does that mean we can't use it anymore?
That means your computer shuts down after 2 hours (bi-hourly means every second hour)

oh god. No nono I don't want that

It's nice that they give you shutdowns instead of killing it altogether.
yes the RC was more than generous and I have a copy of Windows 7 sitting next to me right now. I just have to work up the effort to install it.
Hey guys, I was wondering, our family is looking to upgrade to Windows 7, and our main PC's OS is XP. Would an upgrade version of Windows 7 work with XP? Also, would it work with a new build with no OS.

Yes an upgrade would work with xp but not with a new build for obvious reasons. If you have multiple systems (3) the family pack is about $200 and comes with 3 upgrade licenses

Yeah, I thought that might be the case, thanks for clearing that up mate.
Do you know how much a full version is for the 3 system family pack?
[maybe I should stop being lazy and look myself.
Hey guys I am about to put my purchase through for the Windows 7 software.

Should I buy the Home Premium version or the Professional one?

Apparently the only difference is network support or something.
I would advise the Home Premium edition, only notable difference for a home user is that windows back-up will allow back-up to a network location on Professional but if your interested in backup to a network you probably aren't using windows backup anyway.

and there is your answer, to pretty much everyone that hasn't got windows 7 yet, no point getting anything other than HP
shouldn't have gotten ultimate then?
I got ultimate and am glad I didn't pay more than $40 for it. There is nothing of value bundled in with it that doesn't come with HP.
ryno it would work with upgrade media as it is exactly the same disk. Just not legally.
Incase it hasn't been brought up. Windows 7 does not have a email client. You will need to use a third party client like Thunderbird or Outlook from the Office Professional pack.

I found a way to import Windows Mail from vista but its way to much hassle :/
yeah they assume you will use windows live mail which is the same as windows mail.
Also there is no Windows Movie maker which is included in the Windows live crap.
Movie maker is there, you just have to choose to download it from windows update.

Or when you download msn...
MSN is rage, I didn't have it downloaded until 3 weeks later when I decided i needed to nag people about my birthday plans

I hate Windows Live!!
Steam > Msn any time!
