A general discussion on those devices we put on our heads to drown out the nagging...I mean for better sound quality :P

I've been using the SteelSeries Siberia V2's steelseries.com/... for ages now and I'll be hanging on to them because they do a good job.

How so?

I've tried most of the latest Turtle Beach, Logitech and other headset but from my expirence the Tritton AX PRO's take the cake "imo" :P

I dunno if beating other headsets are really an achievement :P You could save money and get AD700's and do that. I thought you meant they were good period.

You tried the Roccat Kave's? They're about as a good a headset as I've heard. They shit on Logitechs, Razers and Plantronics if that is supposed to be a measure of quality.

Some guy on the MacRumors forum swapped out his iPod Video's HDD for a 240GB SSD.

Lossless audio, huge capacity and energy efficient SSD. Someone else did it with a 128GB SSD and clocked nearly 40 hours of playback at full volume.

lol fair enough, Was comparing them not only for actual quality of the headset its self but also the sound, Unlike the other these have 4 drivers in each cup which you instant notice in the crispness and head ratling bass [MOG]
And when watching blu-rays i feal like i'm at the movies or have a proper home theater setup ;)

Even tho in the passed they did have afew issues with the quality of there headset but since then they have stepped up alot and as for customer service there not bad, For example i was connecting up one day and didnt aline the connection up properly which then resaulted in one of the pins snaping off [Rage] so i got in contact with Tritton USA and they happly sent me out a replacement pair for no cost :D which was pretty good of them and they sent them via FEDEX which means it only took 4-5 days to arrive from the US and i didnt even have to send out my broken pair.

Only kinda annoying thing is at the amount of cables an connection it has, i allready have wires and cable running everywhere plus these makes my gamming are look even more messy -_-

At the time had to order them from the US and costed $250 but you can now pickup a pair from www.pccasegear.com/... for about $225

tbh i didnt know Roccat made headphones not that i have really bought any of there products, And from what i've heard most RAZER products lack quality and them playtronics just feal cheap "imo"

Yeah the Kaves were good with movies too. And some games like BC2. Just hate how headsets have such fake sound. I'm not a huge fan of neutral cans or anything, but there is a line.

Thier was a 3way showdown between Trittons-Astro's and Turle beach but couldnt find the exact one i had viewd months ago. But finally verdict was overal Trittons then Astro's then Turtle beach which atm are currently the most popular console headsets available.

Those are all so expensive for what you get :S

Also, having more drivers in one can does not produce better and more bass, I'm fact the opposite.
Bass needs bigger drivers whereas mids and highs, not so much.

I can absolutely guarantee you that if you tried out a proper set of ATs or similar you would actually wonder how you have lived without it for so long.
Couple them with a sound card and an amp and it will be the same situation again.

Even tho this being in the PC Thread i should state that my Headphone experience has mainly been with console headsets, Which my "Trittons AX PRO's" are optimized for consoles!
But u can use them with PC after you fiddle with all the cables and what not.

I'm not to sure how much different PC and console heaphones are and the difference in sound quality bcoz with PC's it depends on what sound card you have right??

How is a headset optimised for console?
Does that mean it had that little 2.5mm microphone jack to plug into the controller mic port?

Yes on a pc your sound quality will vary depending on the hardware, but its the exact same for a console.
If you plug your headphones directly into the sound out the quality won't be as good compared to if you run it through an amplified source first (such as your home theatre receiver or amp). Doing so gives you a much greater control over all aspects of the sound you will hear.

@Skarteh - Exactly! Don't listen to what other people think. Everyone has a different range in their hearing, so what sounds good to one person won't sound as good to another. I have pretty bad hearing; touring the country with a band and never wearing ear plugs tend to do that to you haha!

I was going to get some other headphones before the Siberias but I decided to try some out. My friend had the V2's and I thought they were kick ass, especially compared to the Turtlebeach headset I had tried before that.

Definitely listen before you buy (if you have the chance) but I'd have to say the Siberia's have a good reputation and I can see why :)

For my headphones it will make a lot. The amp in my Xonar is not powerful enough to drive them, nor is the Audioengine N22. That Burson AMP is supposed to make the godly [Shifty]

But I can't buy it this pay. Didn't save enough last pay!

Then how would I get the sound from my computer to the AMP :P

I love my Xonar dude I won't part with it until I update it! Besides I need something for my speakers. Headphone amp is only for headphones!

One thing I'm unsure of; can I use the Headphone AMP on Xonar to connect to the Burson dedicated AMP or would it damage it [Shifty] Pretty sure I can turn off the amplification so I guess so!?
