A general discussion on those devices we put on our heads to drown out the nagging...I mean for better sound quality :P

I've been using the SteelSeries Siberia V2's steelseries.com/... for ages now and I'll be hanging on to them because they do a good job.

Firstly the prices are ridiculous. Secondly they sound mediocre at best in the top model ($700 detoxes). Thirdly there are so many things which are better to get.

is it much of an upgrade to x41's or to other top/best headsets?

My mate has the x41's and they are pretty good. I'm not sure if they warrant the upgrade though.. unless you can sell your old ones.

Oh btw I want to ask this question to those people on here who would have a better idea.

My friend reckons his X41's are far superior to my HD555's. Between the two, which one has the best overall sound quality?

Strip the ends of each cable individually using a knife or cable stripping tool...

its easier than you think.
the worst is you'll short circuit something. but theres nothing to short circuit, so you'll be fine.

Rofl the HD555's would leave then for dead. Headsets are for gaming only. Anything where sound quality matters will see them fall short due to their super uneven response. Your friend is wronggggg.

Got my Thermaltake TT esports headset replaced the other week, same problem happened, unless I have the cord in the exact right place I lose a bit of sound.

E.g. If I'm listening to a song I'll be able to hear everything except the guitars get really quiet. Weird explanation, but that's what happens. Like I lose one track or sound or something.

So don't buy those. Also, I need a new headset [Shifty]

I had a problem like that before, it was because I was using a dodgy headphone splitter from my soundcard to plug in my headset and speakers so I wouldn't have to fiddle around with it. Without the splitter they worked fine.
I think it has to do with the current being resisted by a connection which isn't as solid as its supposed to be.

X41's are very over hyped. I have a pair and using them for music is not that good at all. My pair of Sennheisers HD220 blow them out of the water

I know right. I was crappy generic headphones so at that volume it was normal.

honestly a large amount of Turtlebeach's hype is cause of the youtube gamers who use them. Mass free marketing to millions of people who obsessively copy their favourite gamers = blind hype. Just get Steelseries, much cheaper =/

There not bad but if you go to far from the main unit you get a lot of crackling and the distance you get before it starts crackling you may as well have a wired headset

I was thinking of grabbing the ATH AD700 and an Astro mix amp to connect with my consoles.

The Tritton AX Pro supposedly isn't getting good reviews because of the tons of wires and connectors and the 2 power sources it needs (not mobile enough).

I was looking at something which I can use for PC as well as Console gaming at nights. So the other option I have in the list is Creative Tactic 3D Omega.

Not really after an Astro A40.

Edit: Also want them to be comfy over the ear ones.

Any thoughts?
