Quote Me a Build/Update Thread V.2

The old thread has reached 80 pages, and has been filled with many builds that the very helpful members of MyFrag have all contributed too.
IMPORTANT
However a problem with people changing the limit on prices, asking people to put together build estimates without knowing the costs, and people generally not knowing what they are talking about has occurred. It is acknowledged that build prices do change due to everyday life, however the number of people that have been changing the price (from 3000 in some cases to 1000...) is getting out of hand. Therefore i have created this form:
What's a good 940pin mobo (pref. Asus, pref. DDR2)? I know the Asus M4A79T Deluxe is like the best but it's nearly $300...

Hey ROOK1E, since you quoted my build, the price has for the computer has dropped from $1470 to $1436.

I showed the build to my friend, and he suggested I change a few things. Here was the original build you made me, with the updated prices:

Original Build said:
CPU: AMD x4 Phenom II 810 $209
Motherboard: Gigabyte MA790X-UD4P $149
RAM: Kingston 4GB DDR2-800 $72
HDD: Seagate 1TB $105
GPU: 1GB 4870 HIS $201
Case: Antec 300 $99
PSU: Seasonic PSR550+ $125
Optical Drive: Asus SATA DVD-RW $68
Monitor: 21.5" Samsung 2233SW $221
Speakers: Logitech X230 2.1 $59
K/B: MS Retail Comfort Curve 2000 $20
Mouse: Logitech MX400 $38
Labour: $70

Price: $1436

Here is the updated one:

CPU: AMD x4 Phenom II 810 $209

RAM: Kingston 4GB DDR2-1066 $88
HDD: Seagate 1TB $105
GPU: 1GB 4870 HIS $201
Case: Antec 300 $99
PSU: Superflower Gaming 800W $129
Optical Drive: Asus SATA DVD-RW $65
Monitor: 21.5" Benq E2200HD 2ms $215
Speakers: Logitech X530 5.1 $69
K/B: Logitech USB G15 $98
Mouse: Logitech USB G5 $67
Labour: $70

Price: $1564

Stupid character limit.
Basically he suggested a new Keyboard and Mouse for me, I checked video review for them and I'm impressed. I then decided I'd pay $10 extra for surround sound.

He then noticed that the monitor you suggested for me is 5ms and that I can get one for a cheaper price at 2ms.

Then he suggested a different PSU for me and said that I should get a DDR2-1066 instead of DDR2-800.

The price difference is an extra $128, but I think it's a good idea, since I will be gaming regularly.

I also realized that the monitor you suggested for me originally wasn't 22", it was 21.5". Mistake?
getting faster ram would do close to NOTHING for gaming
It would only be an advantage for video encoding and 3d rendering

Yeah I don't mind the monitor.

DONT GO WITH THAT PSU

just for your own sake, the quality of the seasonic is ahead of that superflower by a lot. It isn't also all about the wattage it supplies. It's the AMPS too.

keyboard and mouse i dont mind

21.5" is the 16:9 aspect ratio monitor.
22" is most likely the 16:10 monitors

not a mistake.
I do a lot of video encoding and 3d rendering as well.

So basically 21.5" and 22" are almost the same?

I guess I'll go with the original PSU then, and is there any other case you could recommend besides the Antec 300? I'd just like to see my options. Thanks.

One that looks tough, it would be awesome if it had a window and lights. I also want it to be good quality, safe to use.

That looks like a freakin' machine, I love it.
They don't have it at MSY though.

Edit: Actually, they do. But $209 is too much. I was looking for something around the same price of the Antec 300.

CM Haf 932 - $209
Look on page 2 for case WITHOUT power supply.

Its not well made though, sturdy but half assed.

It's $99, lol. I'm willing to go up to at least around the $130 mark, don't wanna get the price into the 1600's.
This one is sweet and just in budget...

plus chuke a few cathodes and fans to make it look a bit more in there !

If you want a Haf 922 downgrade either HDD or CPU
Cpu- AMD 720 BE
I've noticed the LGA1156 socket CPUs have popped up at MSY so I decided to redo the quote for my mate using the i5 instead of C2Q.

Here's what I was thinking:
Intel Core2Quad Q9400 @ $249
ASUS P5Q-Pro @ $164
Kingston 4GB (2x2GB) DDR2-800 @ $72
Powercolor 1GB 4870 @ $198
Seagate 500GB SATA @ $64
Samsung DVD Writer @ $65
Coolermaster Extreme Power+ 600 @ $90
Coolermaster CM 334 @ $75
TOTAL @ $980

Here's what I am now thinking:
Intel Core i5-750 @ $269
Asus P7P55D @ $209
Kingston 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3-1333 @ $106
Powercolor 1GB HD4670 @ $97
Seagate Barracuda 500GB SATA @ $64
Sony Dual-Layer DVDRW SATA @ $65
Vantec ION2+ 600W @ $95
Antec Three-Hundred @ $99
TOTAL @ $1000

I'm thinking he might be better off with the i5 because he'll get a (hopefully) slightly better performance, and a better upgrade path.

Which do you reckon?

Also, keep in mind that he won't probably be getting it until the end of the year, and i5's will be cheaper.
No crossfire (well decant)... those P55 mobo's only support one used 16X pcie slot... so crossfire and sli have two 8x pcie slots...

Thats what gave me a hard time finding a fully compatible mobo... X chipsets is what ya want
Whats newer X48 or P55, or whats the newest mobo type. Also, should I wait for those PCI 3.0 or whatever mobos?

I'm looking for a case that goes for around $135, my friend suggested the Thermaltake V9 $119.

And he also says that the Seasonic PSR550+ PSU wouldn't be able to take two graphics cards, and that the Superflower Gaming 800W, although cheap, gets good reviews and is powerful.

What do you guys think?

The Seasonic PSU is good but yeh hes probably right, doesnt look like it'll power 2 GPUs, though the Superflower PSU wont either as its a generic brand and will be proably worse than the Seasonic which is a very good brand

The amperage sucks ass on it.

Dual graphics? You'll need to be spending around 200 for a decent psu for dual graphics. Honestly. Grab me the specs of the Superflower that you want to buy, like the amperage chart for each rails.

However, your mate is right, 550W isn't enough. You'd expect to be paying around 200 for a decent psu
