Title as suggested ^_^ and holy crap I can't believe that we are already onto our 3rd thread, that's over 200 pages of car talk. We need cars.mmgn [Shifty]

If you haven't had a tune already I wouldn't be surprised I'd that got you a good power increase fire the money you spend.
Spending time on the dyno doesn't cost that much :S
Doesn't tuning void warranty?
I think he wanted to hold onto that while it was still there.

Still need to buy a MAP sensor though. Tuning costs money, dyno time plus remapping the factory ECU. Besides if I was going to get it tuned I might as well get extractors as well.

I ONLY have a few hundred backs to spend so that's why I'm looking at this kind of setup.
You seem to be going out if your way to not tune it though, I was just trying to point it that its really great and really doesn't cost that much.

When I got the skyline tuned it was on the dyno all day long and ended up costing not even $500.
A couple of hours shouldn't cost anywhere near that, especially if you are friendly with the guys doing it.

Small ass pod filter I wouldn't even use on a 4 cylinder feeding hot air direct from the radiator.... -_-

looks like he's out of power steering fluid too. [Facepalm]
if you only have a couple of hundred then save it up and buy something decent later. its an hsv V8 and deserves the best parts so dont skimp on stuff that i wouldnt even put on my V6

I would get a tune if I could afford it so I guess I am going out of my way to not tune it.

Fair enough you got a point.

I was just looking for a quick bump in power. I know when I got to a tuning shop they will ass rape me over a grand for a OTR CAI with a tune. Guess I better brace me self for that.

Even though it's the pov pack model if you are after cheap speed then that's the one to build up because it's the lightest. No fancy stuff bogging you down.

Will need to spend a few bucks on that transmission though, rebuild, extra clutch pack, shift kit, high staller etc.

Ok I'm taking everyone's advice on board and just called up my local performance work shop to get a price on a CAI fitted and tuned properly. It's it's over or close to a grand I'll go running :P

Yeah i lol'd at that.
Ok just got off the phone with one of the good performance shops in my area.
For cold air intakes for my car the options were a bigger air box with a pod filter in it and the OTR type. Turns out you have to get a MAFless tune for my model but given that all I'll be getting done is a CAI it would be waste of money because the gains wouldn't be that impressive.
To get the most out of the tune it's suggested that I get extractors + OTR CAI and a Maffless tune.
Tuning is expensive, $850 for dyno time + tune with MAP sensor.
Best that I leave this power increase idea alone for a while and get it all done in one hit properly. He said to really notice an increase I'd have to get the extractors as well.

At least he didn't bull s*** me and try to sell me an intake.
Think I'll go back to Stereo upgrade instead and just wait until my warranty is up and get some proper work done.

You sound like you will neeeever ever be able to drive a performance car, that is not true.

For me, this is my first turbo car, I got it just before I turned 25 and I live in WA where a P plater can drive any class of passenger vehicle.
