My friend did it for me, took him 3 hours. Only cause he wanted to do it in one piece.

Bonnet would be easy unless you got vents.
Only thing you need to worry about, is not to stretch it into the grooves too much, cause once the cars in the sun for a few hours, it will shrink back and you'll have a bubble underneath. Its hard to explain over the net, have to show you in person.

Just looked up the R8's bonnet. VZ should be fairly easy. Get a sheet around 200-300mm longer than the bonnet, and 200mm wider than the top bit of the bonnet (near windscreen). Overhang you just tuck it underneath by heating it up and scrunching it up so it holds in place.

I've had 2 flats in the last year, both in the front. I drove it up to my local independent tyre guy and because I got the tyres off him he recognised me and fixed them for free. Good bloke, he just ensured I never go to Bob Jane ever again.

@winga26 thanks for posting those pics that kinda the look I was going for but with carbon fiber instead. Will start with the bonnet and take it from there. The boot will be a pain because I'll have to remove the spoiler.

Still needs a few things to be done to get roadie though. So far so good for a car that cost him 700 bucks.

The car is just too different to be a HDT, I don't mind it but it silll looks like almost any other VE to me. For the price (which has got to be really high) I'd rather an SS or SSV.

I think its the price of New SS plus more. Might be better of getting a Clubsport. Still if I had money to burn I'd get one.

I think they are supposed to be as race spec as they can be, so probably more than clubbies or at least the same and these are special edition so they'd cost a fortune. Brocky used to race in his HDTs, back then they were commercially available cars in the races.

Had a classic moment of a moron driving a large SUV when clearly they are not qualified to even operate a toaster.
Well I was turning into a street, I didn't turn in because there was a car coming. Somehow that concept of not driving in front of on coming traffic was too much for this guy because he decides to crawl out into on coming traffic, forcing everyone to stop, nearly T-boning me and blocking me. Such massive levels of stupidity just makes you cringe, also makes you think how someone this stupid got their license in the first place. I wanted to jump out of my car and beat the crap out of him and take his keys and license so he doesn't end up killing someone later but I was so mortified by that act of stupid I just shook my head in disgust. No idea why he did that move because it's not like it was busy or anything, you when people get desperate at peak hour and try anything to get forward? All he had to do was wait 5 more second for me to turn in after the cars passed and he could have gone normally. Oh yeah to top things off he had his young child in the car [Facepalm] Lets hope he wraps him self around a poll later on when no one is in the car with him.

There should be a separate license for 4WD and SUV vehicles to prove you have the competency to operate them.

There should be a separate license for 4WD and SUV vehicles to prove you have the competency to operate them.

That can cause some serious damage with those things.

That is looking very different to how it looked before, the long section is almost identical in shape to the real thing. The motor looks like an afterthought though.

I wonder if thats the same engineering team who made the Hammerhead I-Eagle Thrust, AKA Jeff II!

lol I remember that half arsed electric car they made, did wonders in the wind tunnel. :P
I think this Delta Wing copy they are making is built on an existing chassis, one with a narrow wheel base at the front and they are just using the engine that came with that base car. Hopefully they swap it out for something more high tech. No point having a high tech body with an old engine.

Ok my road rant for the day is these bloody work zone speed limits. They are everywhere and they are bull sh**. First complaint is that if they have a work zone setup on a freeway where you have to pay a tool then during that time then you should either get that section of the freeway uncharged or at least a discount. I pay to use the stupid road because it's quicker and I get to go at a semi respectable speed.
Next complaint is how sign happy these idiots are these days, they will force the freeway to come to a grinding halt of 40kph just because someone is mowing the lawn...are you sh**ing me!? The dude is not mowing the dam road why is that even considered a work zone. Just throw some signs up to let people know he's working and maybe drop the speed down 10 or 15 K's not down to 40kph!! Then they will do something like nerf a 10K stretch of road just because a few guys are surveying the road. They are fully grown educated adults that know how to cross the road. Again just throw up a few signs and maybe close off the side lane.
The icing on the cake is when some dirty traffic cop is hiding in a "work zone" stinging people that don't slow down to the speed that most people so in their drive ways.
I understand why we have work zones but they should only be set up with a 40Kph speed limit when they are ripping up the road or build a bridge or something major like that. Looks like they spend a good hour or so just putting up these signs as well. Oh and top of that they have these signs set before they even start working so there's a point where we are crawling along for no reason at all.

Sunday drivers make me shit bricks of pure rage! I had a long drive out into the country and it was just constant, constant slow ****s in front who never ever get out of the way. There is a massive line of cars behind them and they appear completely oblivious. I was even driving our Triton, the slowest car in the history of mankind, and being held up not just on straights but on the twisty shit as well. I was actually held up by a VE SV6 on the Black Spur going up a hill. Seriously to hold up the Triton on that road up a hill when you are in that car takes some herculean levels of incompetence. It was just amazing how many people are terrified at the act of driving.

Anyone noticed the amount of cars on ther road seems to have spiked massively in the lady couple of years too?

I really don't get how anyone could not notice that they are holding up so many people. These are the kind of people that you could remove their mirrors and it would take them all day to notice and the only reason they did notice was because they were using the mirror to check them selves.
When ever I get stuck behind someone like that I imagine that I have the power to move objects with my mind, and I can just shunt these morons off the road :P

Decided to share this thread on the 360 and PS3 channels as well, I'm sure there's some old car thread floating around somewhere but this one seems to keep going. As you can tell by the title this is the 3rd version, so feel free to participate and talk all that is cars.

Over a month a go some nipple head read ended my misses Beemer and only this week has it finally gone into the shop to get repaired. At first we felt sorry for the kid (P-plater) that hit the car because this thing cost a packet just to replace a light bulb so replacing the bumper and the boot garnish cost a couple of grand. We didn't hassle the kid because as far as we can tell he's just an apprentice so he wouldn't exactly be rolling in the money. At first he was struggling to pay the excess and we were told that his insurance company was trying to weasel out of it....typical RACV they are complete dogs when it comes to payouts. Again we didn't push on him or tell our panel beater to tell him to hurry because it's not like the car was undrivable. Then out of no where the bullsh** started to happen, first they tried to blame her for the accident, they they didn't want to believe the cost of the repair. My guess is one of ignorant parents got in his ear trying to scam their way out of it. Once that crap started happening we said **** him it's game time, we just left it with our insurance company and preferred panel beater and just waited until they were free to fix it and give us a loan car. If the kid just stuck to how things were panning out we would have been really patience about the whole thing and given him time to save up to pay the excess. Oh well his loss, hopefully he slaps the other idiots that stuck their nose in.

Anyway the loan car she got was some Hyundai Elantra, looks like an early 00 model. I know it's a loan car that probably gets thrashed but what a poorly built vehicle, I can see why these things are so cheap now. The seats are so uncomfortable and the engine and transmission are piss poor. I took it for a spin before and it's got nothing and when you try to make it move it makes all kinds of noise. Guess my misses is already missing her car because she has to drive for an hour to work every day.
