Title as suggested ^_^ and holy crap I can't believe that we are already onto our 3rd thread, that's over 200 pages of car talk. We need cars.mmgn [Shifty]

Thats why i put $5800 on it. This isnt the first car i have sold.

So apparently premium fuel will also keep your injectors clean.

The bonuses of premium are amazing.
yeah premium does have lots of advantages, depends if you want to absorb the extra cost at every fill-up
Well its apparently more efficient (slightly) so the long term benefits may outweigh the short term cost.
Never have used anything but Premium for years even in the most basic of cars like the old Prelude. Actually in the manual they recommend you use 95 in that car but we chucked in 98 anyway.
Obviously I put 98 into my current car but after talking to my mate who works at the Holden testing ground he says I can put the cheaper petrol in there if I like, the computer will auto tune to suit. Still haven't tried that though. Curious to see how well it takes to that ethanol mix.

i have been using 91 + ethanol but i think i will use at least 95 from now on.. just seems to run better
I dunno if i will run premium in my new falcon or not
I've been running nothing but Shell V Power (98) for several months now after I found the reason it never worked well in my car is I needed a couple of tanks to let the computer tune to it. Now I won't be going back. I'm paying almost the same amount for fuel and can notice a significant increase in response.
You should be getting a few extra k's out of each tank too, so that helps soften the blow a tiny bit.
Even the difference between 92 and 95 is huge.

Once I'm on my P's and have my budget sorted out i might start running premium.
A lot of post-2000 designed and manufactured cars can actually read what RON the fuel is you put in and do a slight tune to make up for the increasing knock count as fuel quality goes down.
Basically means you get full power when running the better fuel.
Well the new 98 falcon should do that then.
(seriously it only has 127,000 on it!)

Yup a convert. I used to only run a tank and be all gtfo this is better but after 2-3 tanks I see what you guys were saying. And a few extra kays is an understatement. I'm paying like $1.50 a litre minimum and I'm only paying slightly more for fuel each week than before. When I first started and was driving more maturely, it was 1:1. Now I put my foot down too much and its a bit more but I'm OK with that [MOG]

98 is pre 2000 not post 2000 and bear in mind its Australian so its not exactly advanced =_=
my dad says he did research and shell v power is the worst high octane fuel. he always uses caltex 98 cos its one of the best and his business fuel card is from there
Vortex never feels that good when I put it in though. Main reason I get Shell is simply because there is one right next to my work :P
Huddo, please give us some of this "research" that your dad did, I'm not taking his word for it at all.

Shell is way too big a company to produce crap fuel to end customers.
well it was a while ago and i dont know what he found. but if you search for "best 98 octane fuel" then alot of forums say BP Ultimate and Caltex Vortex is better than Shell V-Power or Mobil 98 octane.

alot of it is just peoples opinions but some tuners recommend caltex or BP
Prepare for a little nugget of knowledge.

Most 98 fuel in australia comes from......... BP!
Seriously, I doubt there would be a difference in actual fuel quality between the companies that pump 98.
