Continued cricket discussion. From the Big Bash to the Sheffield Shield, and all international cricket, this is the place to discuss cricket on MMGN :)

Remember to focus on the actual cricket. Any belittling of other people based on the teams they support, or any racist or otherwise discriminatory remarks, will be deleted and bans will be issued as appropriate.

My personal tribute to Hussey, who'll finish his Test career this week at the end of the Sydney test vs Sri Lanka.

Enjoy, and hit out or get out. [MOG]

But he also has a duck percentage of 20% (14 from 72 innings).

Wow, I haven't seen that statistic.. it's pretty damning.

Well, I for one believe he'll do well in the all-rounder role but only time will tell really. :D

New Zealand are 27 for 5.

Philander has 5 for 5 already. [WTF]
NZ all out for 45 which knocks our miserable 47 all out back another notch on the records of shame.

Strikers struggling against the Gades & their chuckers, season over if we lose :(
Philander 5/7 from just 23 deliveries.

They're not bad, really.
Australia only made 47 just last year, and they're not bad.

Johnson has been causing issues with the short ball again. The breakthrough shouldn't be too far away.

-edit- 5 mins later... Starc strikes! cya later captain!
Decent effort by the Aussies. Can see us piling on the runs tomorrow. :)
How much would we be on if we'd batted first though.
Day 2-3 on the SCG pitch is usually the ideal time to bat, we'd want to get a fair innings lead though because Herath will be tricky on day 4-5 once the pitch starts turning.
Didn't get to watch anything today :( But good result. A better effort from SL, 300 is a respectable total. Not amazing, but defendable for sure.

Here's hoping for a good day of cricket tomorrow :)
Great start. I had predicted that Hughes and Warner would ton up.

Lazy running by Cowan. Leave your gloves on you muppet. [Shifty]
Ed Cowan is a terribly indecisive lazy runner with poor awareness he shouldn't be a test opener if he can't keep up with Warner, that's now two ugly run outs he's caused in the last 2 innings & he's very lucky he didn't run out Warner instead.

Out Cowan, 'rest' a quick bowler most likely MJ & Hussey (unfortunately ret) in Khawaja, Watson if fit & Maxwell I guess if he's the preferred spin allrounder option but I'd prefer Henriques or Christian.
Nice of sir lanka to do a guard of Honor for Hussey
Spewing Hughes got out on 87 again I think a few big scores aren't far away for him & Warner once he stops throwing his wicket away.

I voted on the Vodafone live app that he'll be the highest scorer this innings & think he will probably remain the top scorer this innings.
He looked good, if perhaps a little tentative against the spinners. Probably could've looked to attack them a bit more, but you could see he wasn't willing to throw it away like Warner eventually did.

Yeah he didn't throw it away just got sucked into some good bowling by Herath, he said it was a pitch he didn't feel in all the time even though he scored the most runs he looks in real good touch unlike Cowan.

The Aussies were lucky Herath didn't bowl sooner because he looked dangerous, if we don't get 100+ run lead it could be a difficult run chase if Sri Lanka put some runs on the board.

Although I think we should be able to get their top order out abit cheaper this time around, it is good to see it's not a one sided match but we should win if the bowlers do the damage tomorrow.
Hard to believe Dilshan had bowled more than 5 overs before Herath was given the ball. It know it was because there were two left handers batting, but still...

E: Apparently Usman's name is spelt "Kuwaja". Well done WACA.

Siddle is the real all-rounder.

He looks like he'll knick it every ball.
