Black Ops 2 will include better lighting techniques, enhanced environment detail and "more destruction", according to Treyarch director of online, Dan Bunting.
Mr Bunting said that lighting was an "area of emphasis" for the development team, and that it was one of the major engine upgrades.
Players can expect enhanced immersion because of high dynamic range lighting, bounce lighting and ambient occlusion techniques, according to Mr Bunting.
As for the weapons: ”All our weapon shaders have been completely overhauled, so you can get a lot more of that natural reflective surface."
Environments are also getting an upgrade, including areas that are "off-map". "We’ve optimised our pipelines," explained Mr Bunting, "optimised our tools so we can just get a lot more out of the scene than we were able to in the past.”
Gamers can also expect ”more destruction than we’ve ever had before,” although it would be interesting to see the extent to which he refers.
