Call of Duty sales 'are different', not falling

Call of Duty sales aren't falling, "they're just different", according to Infinity Ward's Mark Rubin.

Responding to reports that Modern Warfare 3 sales were down from Black Ops's sales the year before, Mr Rubin said that the series is seeing "bigger spikes" and more front-loaded sales.

"People are getting more and more excited about the launch and more aware of when it comes out," explained Mr Rubin. "Pre-orders are crazy, through the roof. Every time we come out with a game it breaks the record of the previous game."

Following sales comparisons between the two games, news reports suggested that perhaps the Call of Duty series was in decline after years of record-breaking sales. However, Mr Rubin disagrees, saying that sales for the series aren't as spread out as they used to be.

"Sales aren't dwindling at all, they're just appearing front-loaded towards the launch, rather than spread out as they were in the past," he added. "They aren't down, they're just different."

Infinity Ward recently revealed Face Off, a new 1v1 or 2v2 mode that releases on May 22 with Collection 2.

who else is getting sick of these type of articles? and if you're sick of this comment. you're sick in the head. sicko... [MOG]

unless they change the way they approach these games, competition will catch up, some of us will eventually get sick of the same crap and skip a gen etc. are they so worried about profits they can't come up with something new and ride that game around a few times...

chances are if this game is still popular in the next generation of consoles, it'll survive a few more years yet relying on graphic enhancements.
