Crysis 3 officially announced, stunning artwork inside

Crysis 3, the third entry in Electronic Arts' Crytek-developed sci-fi shooter series, will launch in autumn 2013, the publisher announced today.

Crytek will once again use its own Cry Engine to develop the game, promising "seven distinct and treacherous environments known as the Seven Wonders".

Crysis 3 will take place in 2047 and will follow Prophet, a nano-suit clad soldier hellbent on revenge after revealing the truth behind Cell Corporation's "Liberty Dome" in New York City.

"Crysis 3 is a thrilling mix of sandbox gameplay, advanced combat and hi-tech human and alien weaponry that shooter fans will love," said Cevat Yerli, Chief Executive Officer of Crytek. "Leveraging the latest CryENGINE technology, we're able to deliver seven unique themes that offer stunning and visually loaded gameplay experiences. We cannot wait until people get their hands on the game."

Crysis 3 will hit Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC in 2013.

I actually really liked Crysis 2's single-player. Multiplayer was fun but I got over it quickly. Looking forward to this.

How does Crysis 2 look compared to gears of war 3 ? I have yet to play Crysis 2 but I have heard it looks great.

I think GOW3 looks really good on my TV and haven't seen a game look that good for a while.

They are really two very different styles. GOW3 looks great, so does Crysis 2. I personally think Crysis 2 looks better on 360 than PS3.

Uh... I can't wait to see this game! I am a big fan of Crysis, no matter the part... Tried it on 360 but the atmosphere was nothing compared to keyboard+mouse!
