GAME Australia enters administration, not selling Diablo 3

It has been revealed this morning that GAME Australia has followed the path of its UK counterpart and gone into administration.

Due to payment issues, it also won't be stocking Diablo III as it tries to stay afloat.

The situation is eerily similar to GAME in the UK, which didn't stock Mass Effect 3 due to lack of funds back in March, before entering administration. It immediately closed 277 of its 609 stores.

GAME was looking for a buyer for the Australian operation following the UK debacle, but nothing came to fruition. It follows 25 stores being closed during restructuring in 2010.

The fate of GAME in Australia should be known shortly, but redundancies and closures of at least some of its 94 stores across the nation seem ensured.

Well no surprise there that it happened it was only a matter of time once the Parent company goes it's not long till the flow on effect to other smaller markets take a hit.

Feel sorry for the people out of work hope they find alternative employment as soon as possible. :(

People that are saying this is good are crazy. Just means now there is less competition so prices will go up.

I used to like going to GAME to trade in my games as they gave me way better prices then EB.

GAME were never really competitive though. They got better over the years, but there was a time when they were just as bad as EB. They've never been close to JB though, so it shouldn't really make a difference.

JB is the one who leads the lower prices. Other retailers are often forced to match them. No JB would mean an end to cheaper prices.

I only knew of one game store around me, it was in like the worst part of the shopping centre, way underground where nobody goes. The EB was double size and near a cinema where everybody went.
