Harvey Norman fails to fulfil gaming sale orders

Gamers, they be angry, as Harvey Norman has failed to fulfil all of its orders from the almost too good to be true 50 percent off gaming sale it held a month ago.

There are numerous reports of consumers still awaiting their games and even worse things to be said about experiences dealing with customer service, according to Whirlpool. While many people have received their games, a disturbing number haven't in the 31 page (and counting) thread.

Many orders placed a month ago are yet to even be dispatched, as Harvey Norman has failed to source more stock from its suppliers for games it has already sold.

One reader told Lifehacker, that after receiving payment confirmation on March 28, he is still waiting.

On the 29th, he was told there would be a five day delay and was forced to make contact with customer service when that timeframe well and truly passed. On April 15, he was told it would ship that week, which didn't happen, and only now has he learnt that Harvey Norman still don't have the game -- which he has paid for -- in stock, and haven't for the past month.

It follows the Dick Smith sale debacle, which achieved little besides angering gaming consumers, but at least Dick didn't take money for stock he didn't have.

Maybe it's all one big lesson. If an Australian online sale sounds too good to be true, it is.

"If an Australian online sale sounds too good to be true, it is."

Wise words indeed...
This says one thing to me... retailers are getting desperate, really desperate.
I got my games so I don't care muahahah (evil)

I got my 3 games no problem.
If you have been following the Harvey Norman debacle over the last fews years you would know that most of the game orders placed on line are coming from the UK.From what I read Harvey Norman has stores in Ireland who now directly export games to Australia to the customer. Its called parallel importation as to whether these games will come with an official Australian rating label I don't know.As to whether the practice is legal for an Australian retailer I'm not sure. In my opinion its wrong as it will hurt whats left of the Australian gaming industry here with more gaming stores closing down and loss of local game promotions.Cheap games might sound like a great deal in the short term but it will cost us dearly in the long run.Id hate for us to be just another market dictated by foreign interests. And you can be sure the price of games will eventually cost a fortune like the old days.I don't want my games as a DLC thank you very much.
Pretty sure the market is already dictated by foreign interests. EB is an American company, GAME is British I think, and 99% of games are developed and published by foreign companies.

not anymore
Just another example of failure from Australian online retailers. Remember the sales Big W had as well last year for Dead Island...

If they are trying to compete with the overseas market they are off to a very bad start. Taking customers money and not providing stock is the worst.

Hmm, not sure if this applies, but I purchased Prototype 2 online, so I'll be waiting five days.. Hopefully it doesn't turn into ten. X_X
I was thinking more like the distributors with the Australian rights , and the government..All having bit of price gouging some say 50% as compared to the US market. I think the current high retail game prices are also due to abit of jobs for the boys with some retailers getting a better wholesale prices. I dare say a bit of politics is also involved with the HN whoha on so called loss of GST due to imports and now this HN game import business model.I think the real issue is HN is not getting the same deal as some of the longer standing retailers like EB and JB HiFi.So HN is trying out this online import to stick it to the goverment and the Australian distributors to level the playing field .I also read an article about Gamestop having a whinge about not getting fair prices for game stock and sticking it to distributors by importing games from UK and releasing them before the Australian release date. What ever is really happening I still think it will be bad for Australian gamers.Maybe the government will close the doors and stop importation once and for all and force the distributors to sell at a global set price. If it ends up in court you can be sure it will cost us dearly.

you must be new here.
no big deal to me lucky i went in stores
my 3 games were delivered a week after i put my order through, pretty happy with that service.... beats Dicksmith any day...
I went and pickedmine up. I didn't trust their potage service enough
Mine took until last week until I got my games. It is a long time but I wasn't too fussed about waiting
I picked mine in store without any issues at all, I was happy with the price and service I received.
