Is Eternal Darkness returning?

Eternal Darkness could be set to return, after developer Silicon Knights said it is looking to resurrect its most requested IP.

"We’re really excited and we’re working on our next generation stuff. We’re working on an IP that’s our most requested and we’re really excited about that," Silicon Knights boss Dennis Dyack told Game Industry.

"We’re going back to our roots. I’m really looking forward to a point in time when we can talk about it."

While he didn't explicitly state it is Eternal Darkness: Sanity’s Requiem, there's little else that would be considered their "most requested" IP.

Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain is now owned by Square Enix and Too Human was a commercial failure.

I'm exited thinking about what they could do with the Wii U.

They could make you look at the tablet, scare the crap out of you, take a photo of your face and put it in mirrors and stuff in your friends game. [Derp]

but Sanity Effects is what made Eternal Darkness so good. It wouldn't be ED without them. It'll just be Resident Evil. also why would they need Nintendo for the sanity effects?

I loved Eternal Darkness because it did things that were out of ordinary and you never experienced before in any game.

I remember one time where I was in this middle of this tough fight and it was a while before the last save and all of a sudden the game resetted on me, and i remember just flipping seeing the Edgar Allan Poe excerpt. Thinking the game actually did rest, but 5 seconds i was back at the spot.

What about the idea of seeing a fly come on your screen, and at first it looks so real you try to flick it off.

The other thing that was cool about Eternal Darkness was the fact that you never knew whether you would end up dead or alive. Each persons destiny was shaped by the events. And sometimes going through everything you did just to see yourself die was kind of funny. Spoeaking of favourites mine will always be Maximillian's "May the rats eat your eyes! THE DARKNESS COMES!"

One of the few games that deserves more acclaim than it got. Even though critics love it. It wasn't one of the those games you could say and everyone knew what you were talking about. It still isn't today.

then there's no point doing an ED2. It's not the same without them. like i said mght as well call it Resident Evil or Silent Hill. Sanity Effects are what made it unique and different.
