After the Prince of Persia film didn't go down that well for Ubisoft, they've decided to make their next film independantly and somehow they've got Michael Fassbender to star in and produce an Assassin's Creed film.
This seems to be a very good move on the video game developer's part. To create the film themselves and sell it to a studio later. This means that they have full creative control and the film will likely fall in exactly with the video game universe. It's quite an odd move on Fassbender's behalf though.
He's proved so far that he can basically play any role in any type of film big or small, from X-Men and Prometheus to Shame and Inglorious Basterds. He's well on his way to becoming one of the best actors of our generation. Is making a video game really the next logical step in his career? Regardless, fans of the series should be very happy, it looks like you'll be getting a movie you actually want.
What are your thoughts on all of this?
